My tastes are pretty wide, but are mostly as follows: hip-hop/dancehall, country/gospel, 80s/early to mid-90s hardcore, jazz (mostly of the improv/free persuasion), orchestral-y 60s pop (this is not something I have investigated much, but I'm becoming increasingly fond of the beach boys, Phil Spector productions, Nancy Sinatra...), noise (more noise rock ala Dead C than all-out abrasive noise noise, but also granular laptop-y noise like Rosy Parlane and his ilk), modern classical, minimal techno, pre-96 drum and bass, etc. etc. (pretty typical ILx-ish stuff, I guess.)
I am predisposed to buying vinyl, and the insurance company have said that's okay but I'm also open to buying CDs if neccessary.
I have been putting this off for a long time, because it is such a mammoth task (and a fantasic opportunity that I don't want to fuck up) but the distributor assigned to get the records finally emailed me today and said I have about a week to give them a list, otherwise they are closing the file.
SO, ILM, help me!

You might like the pretty new Denise James album, It's Not Enough To Love on Rainbow Quartz. It gets a little samey towards the end, but if you really like that shimmery reverb-heavy guitar with smooth, sweet female vocals, then that's probably not the worst thing.

My impression is that copies of some of the Stiltbreeze records show up from time to time but certainly the band isn't getting paid for them. Sort of 'grey market', discovered-a-box-in-the-warehouse stock, I think...
What a great list! These are still available?

I'm curious why the original poster just didn't want to replace the CDs that were stolen?
er, because I suppose my interests have changed and I had an opportunity to get a whole lot of new stuff. Seems pretty obvious.
ended up giving them the list last week, got some great stuff.a small selection of things that spring to mind:
* the American Anthology of Folk Music box set* a Nonesuch Explorer CD of African witchcraft/ceremonial chants* the Carter Family box-set* Japan only (at this stage, I guess??) release of the soundtrack to Vincent Gallo's last film (w/ exclusive John Frusciante songs, as a present for my friend Chris who is a Frusciante obssesive)* all of the in-print David Axelrod LPs* a couple of Lee Hazelwood re-issues on Smells Like* Beach Boys (Smiley Smile, Sunflower, Wild Honey, Holland, 20/20 and Friends)* a couple of Boris LPs* Comus, "First Utterance"* both Kill Bill soundtrack LPs* Tarkovsky soundtrack CDs for The Stalker and Solaris* all of the available re-issue Goblin soundtracks* Gram Parsons/Byrds re-issue vinyl* Langely Schools LP
etc. etc.
