I have a Numan/Gardiner question

Is the b-side of "Stormtrooper In Drag" (called "Night Talk") really just the same version of a song on Numan's Dance?

I feel soooo disappointed. Isn't there any more songs written by Paul Gardiner? I didn't even know he was dead until someone said so on the Numan thread.

Bimble, I don't know if Gardiner wrote too much with England's favourite pilot. He was his uncle I think, and helped out with drums on their early Tubeway Army albums, then those two other tracks you mentioned (he comes in on the end of Night Talk with one of his no-nonsense drum patterns). I didn't realise he'd co-written Stormtrooper, that must've been one of his only co-writes? Anyway, if you don't have them already (I'm sure you do), there's the Tubeway Army albums. After that Cedric Sharpley takes over. I am the Numan Nerd.

"Stormtrooper in Drag" is easily one of my fave Numan songs ever because it's his attempt (in a way) at the kind of AOR big production weird demi-anthem from the same time. I could easily imagine it being played along with "Bette Davis Eyes" and "In the Air Tonight," say.

stormtrooper in drag is aces. among other attributes it's one of numan's very best vocal performances. total keeper.

I love stormtrooper, too.

Googling around I have found out it wasn't Gardiner that was Numan's uncle, but Jess Lidyard, drummer of Tubeway Army. Gardiner died of a heroin overdose after Dance or so. Gardiner did have a second single, Venus In Furs, the VU song. I'm curious to hear this.
