what the hell is JHood? wasn't his name Ahmad? i remember doing highschool street team promotions for this album

JaXoN (JasonD), Monday, 14 June 2004 04:09 (twenty-two years ago)

nah, J-Hood is this Chicago radio guy who plays that "Back In the Day" song like a million times per show. He plays it whenever he or a caller say "back in the day" in the course of whatever they're talking about. It's funny, but I guess you have to be there. Sorry, I just got a little carried away. But I love his show.

so did you want us to reminisce about ahmad or j hood or just generally talk about back in the day dee?

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 14 June 2004 04:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Does anyone remember "Come Widdit'? Classic posse cut w/ Ras Kass, Saafir(making it triple-strength slept on, I guess). Ahmad played my school in maybe 97,98 promoting god knows what that was probably shelved anyway, last I heard he has his own (Christian-oriented?)group 4th Avenue Jones, the songs I heard were dicey when he wasn't on the mic but dude still spits flames.

Either way is good.

i was in NYC summer 94 and i remember 4th july sitting on a fire escape of the carlton arms drinking a 40 watching a guy use half a melon for a pillow as he slept in the gutter below. this tune was all over kiss and hot 97.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 14 June 2004 06:11 (twenty-two years ago)

it was litreally the DEATH of hiphop for me for maybe 6 years. not that i hated it. just then YOU go to england and then Australia and try to make sense of it.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 14 June 2004 06:21 (twenty-two years ago)

erm...I don't follow.

djdee2005, Monday, 14 June 2004 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry. its kind of a back in the day nostalgia. hip hop radio in nyc at that time was greeeeat. i spent 3 months in the US then. when i moved on i couldn't find THAT excitement in hip hop anywhere else. everything was a disappointment til i went to the nottinghill carnival summer 94.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 14 June 2004 07:27 (twenty-two years ago)

so ironically ahmad's back in the day became a nostalic tune for THEN and not for the days its celebrated.

mullygrubber (gaz), Monday, 14 June 2004 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

ahhh gotcha.

Cool man that's hot shit.

djdee2005, Monday, 14 June 2004 07:31 (twenty-two years ago)
