Oh dear. I suppose Mike Patton turning them down hurt them more than we knew...

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:43 (twenty-two years ago)

there should be a channel that just shows a corpse rotting, 24-7

ddb (ddb), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Mark Burnett must be a shameless INXS fanboy to want to produce this! Worst reality tv show idea ever. And yes, I am including "The Littlest Groom".

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Monday, 14 June 2004 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

have inxs really sold 30 million records?

keith m (keithmcl), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe in Australia it's compulsory to own an INXS album, just like they fine people for not voting. USSAustralia, OMGWTF.

Huk-El (Horace Mann), Monday, 14 June 2004 16:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Are you kidding?? I can't wait to see this. I might even audition myself.

the music mole (colin s barrow), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 05:18 (twenty-two years ago)

i don't have an inxs album, although i do have the 45 of "don't change"

the surface noise and the analogue warmth (electricsound), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 05:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Why in the world is the band Inxs? This sounds like a very bad idea.

Helen, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 05:27 (twenty-two years ago)

excess doesn't pay for itself y'know

the surface noise and the analogue warmth (electricsound), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 05:36 (twenty-two years ago)

I won Shaboh Shabbah (sp?), Inxs's first record, from a radio station I called 100 times a day when I was about 10 years old. And that was a LONG time ago. It's like having a contest for the new Dexy's Midnight Runner. INXS isn't a band anymore. They're just three old, faceless duds who once played in a band. BORING.

Helen, Tuesday, 15 June 2004 05:40 (twenty-two years ago)

NED-Don't Chnage For You Don't Chnage A Thing For Me......

brg30 (brg30), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 07:48 (twenty-two years ago)

INXS isn't a band anymore. They're just three old, faceless duds who once played in a band.

do you think you could check your facts and have some idea what you're talking about before spouting off on the internet and impugning the reputation of some hardworking musicians?

they're FIVE old faceless duds who once played in a band

kit brash (kit brash), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 08:24 (twenty-two years ago)

OH MY GOD I REALLY REALLY WANT TO DO THIS

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 12:57 (twenty-two years ago)

WHERE THE FUCK DO I FIND AUDITION INFORMATION??????????

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:00 (twenty-two years ago)

One time my dad was at a party with them and their sax player stole his girlfriend back to their hotel room. That girlfriend wasn't my mom, btw.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:01 (twenty-two years ago)

I AM COMPLETELY SERIOUS HERE; I CAN SING THESE SONGS!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:03 (twenty-two years ago)

I hate you all for standing in the way of my childhood dreams. (Yes, at one point I did actually fantasize about being the singer for INXS.)

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I BELIEVE YOU DAN YOU CAN BE A ROCK STAR GO GET EM.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)

(hey, INXS were my fave band for a while in 1988, I've heard "Kick" at least a billion times. I'd watch this show)

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

Hey, VengaDan. I worked at a place majorly staffed with Aus/Kiwis. The number of women that lusted over Hutch knew no bounds. Went exponential after "What you need" was a hit here...

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

That's nice; HOW DO I AUDITION??????

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:46 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, since you asked so nicely, here's more info.

This has a lot more info on the show, for those who are interested...

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 13:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Wow, I didn't realize Geldof was pulling the strings for this thing. Fucked up.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Geldof gets the last laugh, of sorts?
I also didn't know that Yates + Hutchence were worth 60K collectively after they died. That's pathetic.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:05 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, Bob is now permanently cool, just for this exchange:

Poppy nip nip nip harangue : "Dad, my real dad was a much better singer than you"
Bob : "Yeah, I know..."

mark grout (mark grout), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:08 (twenty-two years ago)

if the ilx massive gets behind dan I think he could totally win.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:10 (twenty-two years ago)

If Dan can find a way to be a contestant, I'll definitely vote for him.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:13 (twenty-two years ago)

if the ilx massive gets behind dan I think he could totally win
This gets me thinking -- what kind of age demographic will watch this show? The "American Idol" audience doesn't give a shit about INXS, so will they watch because it's a Burnett show?
If so, then unless the ILX massive possesses the power to tweak the whims of teenage girls, our endorsement unfortunately means little.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:22 (twenty-two years ago)

We can build up our teenage girl following my mentioning [insert teen heartthrob name here] with more regularity. We need to use Google to our/Dan's advantage.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:25 (twenty-two years ago)

D4N OMG WTF 8R1Tn3Y XT1NN4 Pr0N !!!!*&*&$()&*

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 14:32 (twenty-two years ago)

I have tried looking up the contact information for Mark Burnett Productions, but no luck so far. Sorry Dan.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 15:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I was doing the same with similar lack of success. It's like the entire Internet is taunting me.

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 15 June 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

I also didn't know that Yates + Hutchence were worth 60K collectively after they died. That's pathetic.

Hutchence had millions stashed in various off-shore investments and accounts, but his accountants told the squabbling factions of his family to go stuff themselves.

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 00:40 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it all held in trust for the kid, then?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

nah, it's all held in trust for the accountants

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 02:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Woo.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 02:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Jim Surface Noise - you're not tempted?

the music mole (colin s barrow), Wednesday, 16 June 2004 02:49 (twenty-two years ago)

sorry for starting a decoy thread, Ned. the news item I saw was dated more recently so I didn't think too look back too far in the archives.

Al (sitcom), Thursday, 24 June 2004 13:56 (twenty-one years ago)

No worries. Besides, we all must enjoy Dan's lust for this job.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 24 June 2004 15:10 (twenty-one years ago)

seven months pass...
the auditions hit the uk

zappi (joni), Wednesday, 9 February 2005 09:16 (twenty-one years ago)

One time my dad was at a party with them and their sax player stole his girlfriend back to their hotel room. That girlfriend wasn't my mom, btw.
-- nickalicious (nza2342...), June 15th, 2004.
do you mean kirk pengilly ?

La Camilla Henemark, Wednesday, 9 February 2005 10:50 (twenty-one years ago)

They had auditions in Toronto last week, and NYC the week before. Dan, I think you missed your chance!

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 10 February 2005 18:01 (twenty-one years ago)

I believe he knew of the Boston auditions, before they happened.

mark grout (mark grout), Friday, 11 February 2005 08:51 (twenty-one years ago)

no-one wins when someone dies but did Sir Bob get all of his wife's monies ?

La Camilla Henemark, Friday, 11 February 2005 09:13 (twenty-one years ago)

I can still send in a tape.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 11 February 2005 14:27 (twenty-one years ago)
