Popjustice have been building this and The Show as the two big things in pop this year. Popjustice are OTF'nM. When they hit, 2004 has fucking turned round bigstyle. #1 with a bullet, and popular music is Richard X's BITCH.

If nothign else, it's the best charity record ever. Possibly because it hasn't got fuck all to do with the charity in question (Sport Relief).

Somehow it's not quite so good this morning, mind, but still - it's very instant, isn't it? But it's like another episode in some kind of Richard X's sci-fi series about popular music, sort of Blade Runner-esque - the sun definitely isn't out, it's all lit by lime & fuchsia neon. Which means that when I see the video (by RICHARD FUCKING CURTIS jesushchrist...) I will be awfully disappointed, won't I?

Who's the sporty fella in the video who isn't Pat Cash or Colin Jackson? Audley Harrison? Based on the 45 seconds I saw on The Hits channel it's the Single Of The Year, just ahead of Jamelia's "Thank You", but I don't know what I'm talking about or even what that means.

First third of 2004 was all about "Milkshake" vs "Toxic" vs "Yeah". Second third (the summer!) is "Some Girls" vs "The Show".

The lyrics haven't been mentioned yet! They're brilliant and funny, and I like the way she pretty much demands that we send her to No 1. Also, the "my baby drives a car" and "my baby waits for me" are magnificent - capturing a mood without ever meaning anything specific. Oh yeah, and the "hey!"s are GREAT too.
