I just heard some Fennesz tracks, and when they were done, I completely forgot them and had to listen again to remember what he sounded like.

fennesz is gorgeous, but i can totally relate.
fennoberg is lots more memorable, and i adore it too.
were you listening to venice? i ahvent gotten around to that yet.

That's pretty much the opposite of my experience with Fennesz -- for such relatively abstract stuff, I can easily recall lots of his tracks. He's great at making his songs quite distinct from one another, I think, in terms of both sound and feel.

I think I'd have to agree there. Venice works so well for me because it is a distinctly varied listen within the general approach.

i thought this thread was about music with such overwhelming emotional strength that you feel drained and wholly detached from all things by the end of it.

or at least, those are the terms in which i think of "feeling nothing."

if you just heard them once, then, yeah... they're not like catchy pop melodies, they're gonna take a little while to sink in!

on a related note: what is up with that four tet track off his newest album which blatantly rips off one of the songs off Endless Summer?

OCP (OCP), Monday, 21 June 2004 03:07 (twenty-two years ago)

Ironically enough, Four Tet was in the play list right after the Fennesz tracks, and Manitoba was before either of them. The Fennesz tracks were "The point of it all" and "circassian" and I have no idea which album theyre on.

they're on the new one.

Back when I used to listen to Future Sound of London at all, their songs were like that. Engaging, but damned if I could remember anything apart from a moment or two at the end.

i listened to pygmalion by slowdive once, and it was 3/4 over by the time i realized i had been listening to music...

peter smith (plsmith), Monday, 21 June 2004 13:20 (twenty-two years ago)

see, i'd say Zero 7, but I now realise that they make me want to KILL PEOPLE, which is hardly feeling nothing is it?

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Monday, 21 June 2004 13:36 (twenty-two years ago)
