timbaland on NPR shocker

What a pleasant surprise to hear on NPR this morning a pretty significant piece on Timbaland. What a disappointment that it sounded about a year and a half out of date, and not only came across like a condensed version of the intro to S F-J's nice Times piece on Timbaland, but heavily relied on commentary from S F-Js to fill the radio piece out. So, does anyone know the story behind this? Has this interview just been sitting in the vaults for a year? What kind of news profile doesn't bring us up to date with what Timbaland has planned next? And who else in the world, other than NPR's reporter, would call Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River" "sweet?"

"Cry Me A River" nearly fucking killed me this lunchtime; I had it on LOUD and stepped in front of a bus.

It was okay as far as NPR goes. It did sound out-of-date. But hey, they played Kid Capri, so....

the NPR mf doom piece was better.

It just came out of nowhere, like if NPR suddenly ran a piece on, I don't know, Organized Noize and talked a lot about TLC. Or Dr. Dre, focusing on his last record.

The free weekly here had a blurb about the Spoon show this week that mentioned how they could be "really on to something with their latest new-wave inspired album Girls Can Tell".

i don't think npr can be expected to be on the cutting edge. if they're just a year late, that's good news. and i mean that with all due affection.

I think I may have heard "A Stroke of Genie-us" for the first time on NPR!

NPR is fucking gay.

Unknown User, Monday, 21 June 2004 17:27 (twenty-two years ago)

who is gay?

amateur!st (amateurist), Monday, 21 June 2004 17:33 (twenty-two years ago)

I could tell you who's gay at WBEZ, but I doubt they'd want that info broadcast on the Internt.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 21 June 2004 17:44 (twenty-two years ago)
