Oh I get it...

None! You don't *buy* albums from a library.

eight years pass...

... yes you do sometimes, I just bought all these for 50p each!

ABBA - The Visitors
Animal Collective - Sung Tongs
Jacques Brel - Infinitement (2CD)
Eno - Here Come the Warm Jets
Eno/Byrne - My Life in the Bush of Ghosts
Faust - Faust/ So Far
John Fahey - The Great Santa Barbara Oil Slick
Meat Puppets - II
The Necks - Chemist
Oneida - The Wedding
Wolfgang Riechmann - Wunderbar
Terry Riley - Music from the Gift (et al)
Steeleye Span - Hark! The Village Wait
V/A - American Primitive, Vol. 1: Raw Pre-War Gospel (1926-36)
David S. Ware - Surrendered
David S. Ware Quartet - BalladWare
Ween - La Cucaracha
Young Marble Giants - Colossal Youth and Collected Works (3CD)

Though I would have needed a wheelbarrow to transport all the albums I could have bought. Regrettably I was forced to implement very exacting strictures on the quality of the actual CD just to cut the numbers down from "shitloads" to "manageable". Don't know what happens to all the CDs they don't sell... not to mention the DVDs, which I didn't even bother looking at it!

strictures so exacting that a ween album somehow got through

Well it's not their best, it must be admitted. I meant in terms of whether the CDs were scratched or were anything less than mint, ditch a good 50 CDs because of it.

you did get colossal youth though, which singlehandedly does for the land of the stereophonics, catatonia and lostprophets what my bloody valentine does for irish(ish) music

Yes, I only got that because I happened to notice this guy reviewing all the CDs he'd picked up, deciding what he wanted and what he didn't want, he didn't want "Colossal Youth". By the way, what a gruesome bunch of greasy social inadequates record collectors are.

three months pass...

there's always some dude at these library sales who spends an hour hogging the CD stacks and ends up with a pile of about 100 CDs, and I had to try very hard not to be that dude today.

$1 apiece:

Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out
Sinead O'Connor - The Lion and the Cobra
Los Héroes - Estrellas De Areito
VA - Harvest Song: Music from Around the World Inspired by Working the Land
The Orb - U.F.Orb
Orbital - In Sides
VA - James Brown's Funky People
VA - Funky Beats
VA - Ballads and Songs of Tradition from the Folk Legacy Archives

I got the following CDs for a total of $2. none of them have jewel cases, and the discs are all tucked inside the CD booklets (about half of them include the back tray inserts) and held together with a rubber band.

Zapp - s/t
James Brown - In the Jungle Groove
Jam on This! The Best of Newcleus
VA - Street Jams: Electric Funk, Parts 1 & 2
The Best of S.O.S. Band
Orbital - Brown Album
Orbital - Green Album
Andrea Parker - DJ Kicks
Art of Noise - The Ambient Collection
Hi-Tech/No Crime: Yellow Magic Orchestra Reconstructed
Soundtrack From Twin Peaks
808 State - Don Solaris
The Orb - Orblivion
VA - Funk of the 70's

I just hope I didn't inherit the contents of someone's stolen '90s CD binder :-/
