Another damn SLSK ?

I've upgraded to 154 test or whatever. I barely get any search results. And when I click the "download containing folder" nothing ever shows up on my transfers window. Only when I click each file one by one does it work. And then none of the dl's ever work. I have a zonealarm firewall installed. But I shut it down when slsking.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:38 (twenty-one years ago)

are you using a router??

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Q: I can configure my router/firewall, any ports I should forward/open?

A: You can forward/open ports 2234 and 5534 for better client performance.

are you behind a router? if so, you need to log into your router and forward ports 2234 and 5534 to your LAN ip address.

hmm.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:48 (twenty-one years ago)

no, im not behind a router.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:50 (twenty-one years ago)

HMM is right. you shouldn't be having any problems. try uninstalling all your slsk's and reinstalling maybe?

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

There is also a 154test3j available that has allegedly ironed out some bugs. I'm getting better search, wish list, similar user, and recommendations for item results than I have in some time. I think I found it on the blog.

I think thats the next step. Plus it freezes the pc entirely when this happens. Task manager doesn't work and I have to manually shut down the pc. Frustrating.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:56 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm pretty sure your problem is with ZoneAlarm, especially the task manager locking up. The same thing was happening with me and I reverted back to the last working 4.5 version (zlsSetup_45_594_000.exe) and my problems stopped. I read about this on their forums.

svend (svend), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 12:59 (twenty-one years ago)

damn, where can i get the 4.5 version?

RAWRRRR

cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 14:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I had the exact same problem, after seeing this thread I switched to another firewall, and now Slsk seems to be working just fine! Hurrah! (Installed this firewall instead, don't know much about it but I've heard it's supposed to be good.... http://www.kerio.com/kpf_download.html )

Hanna (Hanna), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 16:11 (twenty-one years ago)

i guess thats what i'll do.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

By the way I can recommend the 154test3j version. Some new features and some problems ironed out (sadly enough not the memory leak when sharing smb-mounted files).

whats this about super mario bros?!

harshaw (jube), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm sorry i just can't take this thread seriously

(character flaw)

harshaw (jube), Wednesday, 23 June 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

well it worked with a new firewall. the kerio firewall kept disconnecting my cable connection, so that failed. i eventually settled on sygates firewall which is not quite as handsome as the others but gets the job done. what a bitch it was to uninstall the zone alarm firewall.
