Should I go early enough to the Spoon show tonight to see Thee Shams open?

Or just hang out at home and play video games until Spoon starts?

'Cause I don't want to brave the hipsters until I have to.

Do you know anything about Thee Shams? I'm going to the show on Friday in Chicago.

Nothing at all, I was hoping ILM would.

I know that their album cover has boobies on it and that I wish I wouldn't have looked it up on AMG at work.

I have their first album, from when the were just The Shams, very competent, slightly psychedelic garage rock goodness.

they advertise on pfm, using that album cover w/ boobies.

you know the old saying, "the more boobies they use in their advertising, the less boobies there are at the show"

We will see if Spoon is sexy enough to cancel them out.

Skip the whole show, stay home and rent "Maid To Order".

That's sound advice.

Is that with Howie Mandel and, uh, Ted Danson?

I saw this bill last night in Minneapolis. I wasn't too impressed with Thee Shams, although they did have a few decent songs.

Spoon were all right--- a bit sloppy compared to previous times I've seen them. They also played a really short set--- the show was done by midnight.

Spoon did play 4 new songs last night, though. Good stuff. And they played a great re-working of "Small Stakes" that kicked the weak album version's ass.

I love the album version unto death! It just builds and builds, and you keep thinking the band will come, and then the only way to diffuse the tension is with a big reverbed-out drum solo, so they do.

Nonetheless, hearing what they do with all the studio arrangements from KtM is what I'm really looking forward to tonight.

Nevermind, the point turned out to be moot. The show was "crazy sold-out." Who'dathunk.
