"Love, Peace & F*ck" by Brain Donor (Julian Cope's new band) -how is it?

I *really* like the first 2 tracks which were also singles the rest is good but not great and the songs have a tendancy to drag on a bit. On the other hand it sounds about as close to a new Stooges album as is humanly possible so if your into that sound you should probably get it, the cover is cool too. t.

How is it compared to the other Julian Cope solo cds?

more power to 'im, but damn it, it just doesn't do it for me after repeatedly plays, with different strategies of listening.

I love Julian's stuff (and I refuse to call him "the Arch-Drude"), but this just seems like a bad in-joke gone way too far. Let's face it, he's never bettered PEGGY SUICIDE (though "Try Try Try" of 20 MOTHERS came damn close) and this is only distancing him further from that possibility.

Peggy Suicide was great and it seemed like so many songs to put onto a freakin' CASSETTE tape (when I bought it), but it all fit and it was a high quality, great-sounding tape, so I loved it. But, what I wanted to say was that Jehovahkill wasn't so bad, either. In fact, it was real good. I went on to buy a bunch of other Julian Cope-related stuff like The Teardrop Explodes and a few other Cope cds. Those two stick out in my head as the best. Peggy Suicide finally got eaten and I've yet to repurchase it, but Jehovahkill is still around. I'm not sure if the mysteriousness and drama still hold up, but the Subtle Energies Commission has some powerful swells and I still love the acoustic song that goes, "she walks up to me, makes the sign of the cross, she says 'julian h. cope, you're a real dead loss'" and "badges? badges? we don't need no stinking badges! Civilized, you sissified, I want to be a savage" and "keep sweepin' sister till the broom falls apart, but don't you know that nice girls aren't supposed to fart". Wish I could remember the name of that song.

I thought 20 MOTHERS was excellent.. every song was incredible or very very good. I even liked INTERPRETER...

Jehovahkill is a brilliant record - the most perfect realisation of what he's been trying to do since Peggy S and much better than that record BUT for me he hit a peculiar and unmatchable peak with Fried.
