Their next record will probably have a 20 minute sequel to the Necromancer.

Anthem/Atlantic recording group Rush has unveiled details of their upcoming new collection, dubbed FEEDBACK. This unique set sees the renowned trio – Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart – celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary by performing cover versions of eight rock classics from the Sixties. FEEDBACK is slated to arrive in stores on June 29.
“Geddy, Alex, and I were channeling back to 1966 and 1967, when we were thirteen- and fourteen-year-old beginners,” writes Peart in the liner notes to FEEDBACK. “We thought it would be a fitting symbol to commemorate our thirty years together if we returned to our roots and paid tribute to those we had learned from and were inspired by. We thought we might record some of the songs we used to listen to, the ones we painstakingly learned the chords, notes, and drum parts for, and even played in our earliest bands.”
FEEDBACK marks the first time that Rush has recorded songs by other artists and writers. Included are such groundbreaking staples as Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth” and “Mr. Soul,” the Yardbirds’ “Heart Full of Soul” and “Shapes of Things,” and the Who’s “The Seeker.” FEEDBACK also features versions of two songs which defined the heavy rock power trio tradition that gave birth to Rush – Cream’s explosive take on Robert Johnson’s “Crossroads” and Blue Cheer’s still-extreme rendition of Eddie Cochran’s “Summertime Blues.
Not sure how I feel about this record. I still haven't gotten around to buying my own copy of Vapor Trails yet.

You know, it was always the dull, purist "well I don't consider that music" rush fans I despised. Rush, I just disliked.
Apart from that one track. Also, that mashup with one of the two annie lennox tracks I can stand.

Once you've heard Rush's version, you'll only be more adament in that stance. I would use this song as exhibit A on why CanCon is a bad thing.

Not true, sorry. Actually their very first single was Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away".
Still, this is the first time in 20 years I've been halfway intrigued by an impending Rush LP. Probably DL a song or two

Alex, do you hate "Summertime Blues" as a song or are you acknowledging Blue Cheer's definitive version?
And Vic, are you Canadian; and if so, what's your objection to CanCon? I've always had mixed feelings.

I live in Canada (wasn't born here); I object on the basis that Rush is getting airplay because lazy rock radio programmers are thinking "Well, it's summertime, so I guess we should play this," instead of playing something on the basis of merit (regardless of the band's homeland).
I heard this song on the radio one afternoon a month ago and thought "Holy Christ this is terrible!" but I didn't know who it was. Later that same day, I heard the DJ introduce it on a different channel, and say it was coming from a new album, and I was gripped with fear at the possibility of being subjected to it blasting out of cars and establishments all summer long.

There are, but they are far outnumbered by Kix albums.

That is the one, unless I'm very wrong -- and "Subdivisions" is actually probably my favorite song by them, though specifically that great version on A Show of Hands. Sure it's not *radically* different or anything but somewhere it works more for me there.

I challenge your precious 50 Cents and Dizzee Rascals to come up with something as brilliant and succint as that.

The intro of "La Villa Strangiato" (after the classical guitar part - the part with the guitar harmonics and then with the bass and drums) and the intro of "Autobahn" sort of remind me of each other.
