We don't see the first part of the discussion, but.

It was more a debate on how "If you see a person you don't know, do you like him or dislike him before you know him?"

Bob says dislike, the reporter is amazed. I'm with Bob on this one, but hey I'm picky. I admire people that can like everyone, I have friends like this and it always makes for an interesting evening.

He maybe slipped into meanness with the man from Time magazine. But with the reporter you're talking about, and elsewhere, I think he just avoids it. It's beautiful. I think Bob's friends are mean, and treat the situation as, "Hey, we get to take the piss out of everyone". But Bob's not taking the piss, I don't think. He's totally fair.

"You can get intelligent lyrics in rock music and you always have done. Ray Davies did it. Lou Reed is absolute classic,most of the time. Better than any American novelist. Hank Williams is excellent, a moral parable in 90 seconds...You don't have to be pretentious or rant on and on like Dylan. He can't write for toffee. I have always said that".
