Gets started TONIGHT, Friday 6/25, w/ Coptic Light (exes from Bitch Magnet, Storm & Stress, & Antioch Arrow) @ Tommy's Tavern --- & then again on SUNDAY w/ Octis (Mick Barr of Orthrelm & Quix*o*tic) @ Sin-e.

ps - I'm looking for volunteers & for an intern – If you're interested, write me at the address above. Volunteers would be making flyers, handing them out, maybe working the door, helping set up; intern would be doing data entry, reading email, helping day-to-day whatever. [ OCTIS ]
Mick Barr is the guitarist from Orthrelm and plays bass in Quix*o*tic. Mick was in Chrom-Tech too. "OCTIS is Mick Barr from ORTHRELM's solo endeavor. Mick has been called one of the greatest guitarists in the underground, if not world/universe. This particular release finds Mick playing solo over programmed drum machine blast beats. The results are simply incredible. A total of 12 bursts of power. Is it thrash? Is it jazz? Is it metal? Is it "avant"? Who cares? What we DO know is that this shit is the future." – Tonevendor. Single out on Troubleman Unlimited.

[ PAUL FLAHERTY / CHRIS CORSANO DUO ]
"Saxophonist Paul Flaherty and drummer Chris Corsano are New England-based musicians dedicated to the promise and purpose of free improvisation. Paul has released numerous recordings since the late 70's, while Chris is a relative newcomer. For the past 5 years, the two have operated together in duo format as well as in collaborations with some of the finest freedom thinkers around such as Nmperign's Greg Kelly, Thurston Moore and Jim O'Rourke of Sonic Youth, Matt Heyner of Test and the No Neck Blues Band, Daniel Carter, Christina Carter and Heather Murray of Charalambides/Scorces, Wally Shoup, and Steve Swell. Together, Flaherty & Corsano seek to champion the cause of total free improvisation, an often misunderstood, underestimated, and sometimes even hated artform." – Hated Music. Matt Heyner of the No-Neck Blues Band *may* be making the duo a trio for this performance.

[ ZEKE HEALY ]
Zeke also plays in the Boggs. An astoundingly great guitar player, bluegrass like songs played super fast with a lot of soul and - right there under all the finger-picking - a great ear for melodies. With touches of noise experimentalism, John Fahey moments.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

I may go, don't know. Todd, you reall should truncate all that upcoming shows shit, though. But you know I love you.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Have Coptic Light ever released anything? I remember seeing them in 2001 when I lived in NY and thinking that I would like to buy a CD if they would ever put one out...

Neb Reyob (Ben Boyer), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Are Coptic Light any good? Certain people have lead me to believe that they are.

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:22 (twenty-one years ago)

their 7" will be available tonight.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

ya che koham todd

ddb (ddb), Friday, 25 June 2004 16:41 (twenty-one years ago)

the happenings lists gets the truncate treatment - the I love Music list is a big boy though - it can take the full strength version I think.

please translate the yiddish, ddb

Todd P, Friday, 25 June 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

CL have a cdr and a tape - neither released unfortunately.

they have a debut single out tonight tho.

Todd P, Friday, 25 June 2004 18:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i've heard nothing but good things about child abuse

common_person (common_person), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:28 (twenty-one years ago)

(couldn't resist)

common_person (common_person), Friday, 25 June 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

hstencil, will you pick me up a single for realz? kthx!

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Their live show in NY about a year ago was ridiculously good. Dense, dense, loud.

ben tausig (datageneral), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah, if I go, I'll pick one up for you, gygax!.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:26 (twenty-one years ago)

as stated, those in the williamsburg area who want to come to a loft party tonight after said show, hit me off list(I'm looking at you hstencil + donut bitch) or alternately, call me after the show and I'll let you know if it's worth coming, i.e. if it's "totally slamming" or "completely lame".

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

as stated, those in the williamsburg area who want to come to a loft party tonight after said show, hit me off list(I'm looking at you hstencil + donut bitch) or alternately, call me after the show and I'll let you know if it's worth coming, i.e. if it's "totally slamming" or "completely lame".

even if it's "completely lame", i'd be up for meeting up at some point... complete lameness didn't stop us from leaving the Black Dice/Juan McLean show last night, at least right away (none of which had to do with the performances actually). stence's call though -- no pun intended.

donut bitch (donut), Friday, 25 June 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

meaning the show was lame or you left for a lame reason or you were lame for leaving? stence has my number...

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:01 (twenty-one years ago)

lauren and I got spat on.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:02 (twenty-one years ago)

no way!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

someone threw a cup that still had some liquid in it. intended target was unclear.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

considering the pool of enemies hstencil and lauren have amassed, it could've damn well been just about anybody, no?

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

:_ (

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

i thought i noticed you lurking behind the speakers, dan.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't see why anyone would hate lauren.

hstencil (hstencil), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

so...much...bottled...up...rage....and....bitterness

and it's all gone with a simple flick of the wrist and the tossing of half-filled cup.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

you don't know her as well as I do, hstencil.

OH SNAP!

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

I'M JUST KIDDING.

I love Lauren dearly and she is well within my most secret inner circle of super special closest friends for life, and would never throw a cup of undetermined liquid at her while in a warehouse in williamsburg.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

And that, Mr. Selzer, is your mistake.

Ian c=====8 (orion), Friday, 25 June 2004 20:43 (twenty-one years ago)

wh'appin?
