I wouldn't be surprised if they've been put on hold after 2 Steps Ahead bombed. Incidentally, was anything on that album worth checking out apart from (the awesome) "Shoot To Kill"?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 27 June 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

No, nothing. It was appalling! And I used to like them before. I imagine them now selling fruit & vegetables in a market stall somewhere in South London.

I liked the lead single from 2 Steps Ahead at the time but I can't even remember how it goes now. I doubt it was as bad as the second So Solid Crew album.

ts: 2 steps ahead vs. down with the king

I was just listening to the first record yesterday and thinking this!

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Sunday, 27 June 2004 17:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah Execute is a really good record. Lex the lead single from the second album was "Shoot 2 Kill".

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Sunday, 27 June 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

You sure? I'm sure it was something about girls. "I don't know why them girls bug me" or some such. Execute was one of my favourite albums of whatever year it came out.

The Lex (The Lex), Sunday, 27 June 2004 23:58 (twenty-one years ago)

That's another song...I can't rememebr what it's called..."Them Girls"?

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 28 June 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

"Dem Girls"!

Hundred thousand people
Listen to this

When I say you say
We say they say
Make some noise
When I say you say

Stop the jealousy
What, 'cause
We didn't start from 1983
Oh, I was in my nappy
Did I mention we're only 18?

AdamL :') (nordicskilla), Monday, 28 June 2004 00:12 (twenty-one years ago)

what about the rest of the sosolidcrew??

dave k, Monday, 28 June 2004 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

also, "rap dis" was pretty hot; wasn't that on the followup too?

dave k, Monday, 28 June 2004 00:37 (twenty-one years ago)

"Rap Dis" love seconded!

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 28 June 2004 13:47 (twenty-one years ago)

'Rap Dis' was the first single off the album proper, if I remember right - didn't it come out somewhere between the two albums? 'Execute' was great, 'Rap Dis' was better... but the only thing I can remember about the second record was that awful track about Amsterdam. Shame.

Jason J, Monday, 28 June 2004 13:57 (twenty-one years ago)

they got dropped when the mushroom/East West records takeover happened. the Heartless Crew LP never came out during this period either.

martin (martin), Monday, 28 June 2004 15:48 (twenty-one years ago)

eight months pass...
fuck the hate.

today i have thoroughly enjoyed the thin beats and sub bass boom clicks and ticks of these guys. been perfect soundtrack for a grisly shift ..

i reckon this stuff is actually pretty spot on in 2005. admittedly i dont pick up on the raps to much .. just the sonics so far ..

and word reaches me that they are currently in the 'lab' and that new stuff is 'amazing'.
