Make it go boom: songs with explosions in 'em

So I am totally drawing a blank here and I know that you all can do better... I'm looking for songs that prominently feature an explosion/explosions in them. Examples: Sampled in to make the beat, beginning or ending the song, or just incidental and strewn throughout. I'm thinking the more explosions, the better.

I can only think of two lousy songs:
The Gap Band - you dropped a bomb on me
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Baby C'mon

Can you help a brother out?

there's an explosion sound effect on the computer at the radio station that lets me add ka-BOOMs to any song I please. I don't abuse it nearly enough.

2 Bad Mice-"bombscare"

Sengai, Tuesday, 29 June 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

The best one was already mentioned: Love's "7 + 7 Is." On a lesser note, the squealing guitars in Chemical Brothers' "Setting Sun" always sounded like falling bombs to me.

And an explosion ends the video for Junior Senior's "Move Your Feet," but since I don't own the album or single I don't know if it's part of the actual track.

There's the sound of nuclear destruction exactly when you'd expect there to be in Living Colour's cover of 'Final Solution'.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 10:56 (twenty-one years ago)

B.J. Snowden, "America." It's supposed to be fireworks but her cheap effects sound WAY more like the final moments of MIssile Command.

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 12:21 (twenty-one years ago)

That explosion in the Junior Senior song is just for the video...I wish they had put it on the track, though, because it just abruptly ends without a proper denouement or anything...it bothers me...

Ian Moraine (Eastern Mantra), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 12:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Don't call it a comeback
I've been here for years
I'm rocking my peers
Puttin' suckers in fear
Makin' the tears rain down like a monsoon
Listen to the bass go BOOM!
Explosions, overpowerin'
Over the competition I'm towerin'
Records stop when I drop
These lyrics that make you call the cops
Don't you dare stare
You better move, don't ever compare
Me to the rest that'll all get sliced and diced
Competition's payin' the price

I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out
I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out
I'm gonna knock you out
Mama said knock you out

Kornél Kovács (Kornél Kovács), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

The aforementioned "Car Bomb" by Negativland is great because the music stops completely for the explosions, which come complete with shrapnel and whatnot clattering back to earth afterward, and so it's easy to edit out from the song and add to other things.E.g., I ended a mix with "The Hero" from the finale of the Flash Gordon soundtrack, and it ends with an explosion, but I didn't find it meaty enough so I pasted in the Negativland blast and that kicked things up to the next level. Namely Level 42.

Thor (Thor), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 14:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Flipper's "Sex Bomb" has (appropriately) MANY explosions throughout - can't remember if they're in the single, or the LP/saxophone version, or both
Funkadelic, "Wars Of Armageddon"
Paul Revere & The Raiders, "The Great Airplane Strike"
Blue Oyster Cult, "ME-262" (the fall of Berlin, April '45)

Vic Funk, Wednesday, 30 June 2004 17:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Alex, you should be ashamed for getting "Raining Blood" wrong. Tsk.

Pray tell, how did I get it wrong? Is the sound of thunder not eligible as something that goes "boom"?

Joseph McCombs, Wednesday, 30 June 2004 20:25 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a song by Bone thugz n harmony and Tupac where the beat is actually the sound of a gun being loaded and fired, which in its own way is an explosion.

David Allen (David Allen), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 20:28 (twenty-one years ago)

"Mushroomhead" by Can from Tago Mago
"Buenos Tardes Amigo" by Ween from Chocolate and Cheese

The Stranglers - Tank

During the mad ascending keyboard solo there are a couple of explosions/detonations, Black & White is a GRATE album.

Jane's Addiction - Ocean Size

I'm sure there's a big reverbed out explosion (it might be a drum) after the 'Threeee, Fourrrr...' count in at the start of the song.
