music for the immobile

ok so playing footie today i overbalanced and twisted and GAH my left leg hurts!!! stood up and ran around for a while and it was cool for the rest of the game, sore but ok. then i sit down after and have a cold drink for ten minutes, get up and GAH it's limping and every step is agony. basically, it's lying on the couch with an ice-pack for the next few days. a musical prescription is required, but PLEASE nothing that will make me want to dance, that will only serve to frustrate me further.

suggest artists/tracks/albums whatever - if i have them in my collection i will try them out. full length albums and long pieces of music are good - the less to-ing and fro-ing and movement the better...

Don't Get Around Much Anymore: Duke Ellington

When I was horribly hungover and prostrate on the couch a friend brought a Juana Molina cd over and it was just the thing. The more you strain to listen and the stiller you are the better. Dogs barking in the distance, etc etc.

Otherwise, I never bother to listen to her as her music really is more interesting when you're prone.

Cure's Seventeen Seconds is also quite good but may not be advisable when in easy reach of painkillers.

It would have to be something you already have, cus you aren't getting out to the CD shop.

indeed. but rather than posting a list of all the records i have, it would be simpler for folks to make random suggestions, and should i possess the record in question, i will try it out.

It should be something that benefits from a close listen. Robert Wyatt (and other Canterbury stuff) or Ravi Shankar. How about Van Morisson? That seems fitting somehow.
