Help! I'm So Hollow!

I am a proud owner of a copy of the "Dreams to Fill the Vacuum" b/w "Distraction" single from 1980 by I'm So Hollow! On this single, I'm So Hollow sound like the missing link between Joy Division and A Flock of Seagulls or something. Really good songwriting with unusual fuzztone guitar (very good playing--an atonal noise solo on the B-side). Synths are used for New Wave arrangements AND to make abstract electonic noises.

They released an album called Emotion/Sound/Motion in 1981. Has anyone ever heard it? Is it great?

Hm, here's a web page you might or might not have seen yet:

Trouser Press, meanwhile, is not complimentary:

This moderately unpleasant new-dance quartet from Sheffield has two awful singers, a solid drummer and a penchant for tossing in odd noises and "treatments" when the songs bog down. The music is competently dull, but the vocals are a real detriment.

I do have the album and I think it's great. If you like the single you'd probably like the album just as well. I've always thought though were one of the most overlooked bands of that era.

Perhaps this is a perfect band for this thread:

What should LTM be releasing

That said, I really want the Modern Eon stuff reissued first.

awesome, the singer of Def Leppard was in a band with a member of Vice Versa/ABC.

I've still never heard the Vice Versa songs, but have both They Must Be Russians 7"s.

The cover of that They Must Be Russians EP looks awesome.

My experience has been if the band is from the UK, chances are Trouser Press just won't get it, so no big surprise there, Ned.

I have a song by I'm So Hollow on the Hicks From the Sticks compilation from 1980. It didn't do much for me, but I'll try to check out some other songs soon.

one year passes...
Anyone seen the Made in Sheffield documentary? How is the I'm So Hollow footage?

I remember when Trouser Press was good. *sigh*

Yeah, um, Trouser Press is about the most anglophilic thing I can think of other than like Rodney Bingenheimer.
