Time was when I'd cite Toni "Curve" Halliday, but I interviewed her circa CUCKOO and found her to be not especially pleasant, humble nor bright...despite her icy sex kitten persona. Miki Berenyi from Lush used to set my wires a-fire as well.

These days, I'm going to have to go with Shelby Lynne too...although she too seems far from cheery. Though I loathe her music with a fire that burns brigher than a thousand suns, I think r'n'b/hip-hop babe, MYA is absolutely delectable as well.

Incidentally, Sugar Ray is a "they," not a "he."

I don't think there's any musician other than her whose looks were a major factor in me giving their records a chance. And her records aren't bad, but when I bought Ill Na Na I couldn't remember anything about the song I'd previously seen the video for. I just remembered her very striking face.

I still buy her records. They're good, trashy stuff. You've just gotta be sure to buy the vinyl so you get all the cover and insert pictures in large size.
