okay, some indie-ish reworking of it, but still, wtf?! guess it's a step up from modest mouse.

it's the afx remix isnt it?

benito mussolinington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:21 (twenty-one years ago)

it's a pram remix, i think. they mixed it with an aphex track frow SAW II.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i'd be impressed if they used surgeon's (atypical, bassheavy, broken-beat(!)) remix of "nurture" instead.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

of course then nobody'd want a volkswagen.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:25 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i would love to hear we are back coming out of my tv

WHAT IS HOUSE???

everyone go to bleep.com right now and download LFO's own remix of "what is house" off WAP17, the "what is house" ep.

it is astoundingly spacious.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

LFO has been my re-discovery of the week. i have listened to advance probably twenty times since sunday and the we are house and tied up eps quite a bit too.

unfortunately i don't think sheath quite lives up to advance. also i could say the same about moby's career post-"tan ta ra" remix.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

wait is advance the one that came out in like 96? i never heard that.

benito mussolinington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

here's also where i admit i found sheath boring

benito mussolinington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:44 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah you should hear it. it's good. bleep.com has a good jukebox, you can listen to the whole album there.

sheath is a bit boring, though it has some really great tracks.

vahid (vahid), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

did you ever have any luck with your search for more bleep and bass vahid? (that was you, right?)

benito mussolinington (dubplatestyle), Wednesday, 30 June 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah i didn't. there were good suggestions on that thread but i had almost all of them already. simon recommended some really obscure shit that i haven't been able to track down (bassic, chill).

i want to believe there's a massive bleep underground archive on the order of all the hardcore that's been rediscovered since 95, or the millions of dancemania/ghetto house records waiting to be discovered, but i just don't think there is. i wonder if bleep is a case of a few very high-profile acts making a big impact on a scene. and then future generations who weren't there at the time sort of hallucinate this big underground scene that didn't really happen!

though sometimes i think early-to-mid LFO and all the first twenty warp singles are good enough on their own to make up for it.

ps - congrats on getting into the wire, jess!! (first time, right?)

the volkswagen advert music, as vahid said, is first track on Warp 10+3 CD1

koogs (koogs), Thursday, 1 July 2004 09:45 (twenty-one years ago)
