has anyone heard Cylobs new single "Cut the midrange drop the bass"? with a title like that, i'm assuming that its going to be a take on oldrave (although what does this mean? belgianmentasm91? formationbreakage92? sheffieldsound90 - i doubt the last one)

is this rave becoming something to use properly (i don't count the drill'n'bass dudes because they don't have any stylistic similarity other than cutupbreakbeats). i know there was a rave (in a prodigy style) pastiche on that Mask500 12" a couple years back (was this squarepusher??). it wasn't very well done, i hope this is a better attempt, if indeed thats what this is

I see that Cylob is breaking new ground by using a computer voice. I've just heard it and sounds a bit tired although the chorus is alright

man.. cylob used to be so awesome... he made the hardest funkiest idm before we even called it idm. when did he jump the shark? i say it was that dumb "80's" single last year.

i've only just discovered (and gotten into) this track, despite knowing cylob for years (he once replied to an email i sent him in '99 telling him how much I liked "Lobster Tracks", in 32 point fonts with "WILL YOU F*** OFF AND STOP BOTHERING ME YOU C***"). But yeah - cool track, even beautiful in places - but suffers from IDM's problem of not enough bass.

The responses on this topic in '01 are strangely pre-emptive.

This song is (was?) pretty neat but it's no "Rewind" (especially the DMX Krew remix) or "Are We Not Men Who Live and Die"

I hated Mood Bells, though I can't remember why, and stopped keeping up. Has he done anything worth hearing since?

have you ever noticed that the tune for the robot voices bit is just "Take The Skinheads Bowling" by Camper van Beethoven?
