I'll be watching Patton tonight... one of his GREAT scores. He will be missed.

Nevermind "Patton". It's all about "Planet of the Apes" & "The Wind & the Lion".

And Our Man Flint (!)

And the gorgeous noir downtempo swing of Chinatown

And the ubergoth of The Omen

And the DX-7-ny low rumble-synth of Star Trek

I mean, he was amazing.

And he knew when he was scoring shit and could be fun/funny/brilliant about it: Deep Rising (don't ask) has a terrific Scary Wah-Wah/electronic theme that had me hooting in the theater and I'm not the hooting kind.

I never knew who he was (and that's kinda sad too) ... but what an impressive resume ... RIP

first record I ever bought, age 7, was the soundtrack to "Logan's Run" at a sci-fi convention in Texas.

His "Alien" and "Poltergeist" scores are wicked sick.

Oh yeah, and "Chinatown" is amazing.
