I love Genesis P-Orridge's work with PSYCHIC TV but I just found out that he has new project called Thee Majesty.. how is it?

Todd,

Well, I heard a copy of a Thee Majesty CD this summer, possibly "Time's Up." Gen's patter was very much in the foreground. He was recycling some of the same material (including specific "lines") that appear throughout his writing and spoken word projects. Honestly, I didn't listen to the whole thing. I am a recovering Psychic TV fan, and for the most part I don't care for Genesis P-Orridge's ravings anymore. If you have never heard the CD "At Stockholm" recorded with White Stains, I would recommend that over this. His delivery is at least more tolerable (and more varied) and the background music is more interesting on that CD. On the other hand, if you still love most of Psychic TV's output, and you specifically enjoy the spoken word approach, you might enjoy it. I'm not a sympathetic listener at this point. (I wish I had kept the CD. I would have been glad to mail it to you for free. Instead I gave it to the public library where I work, but I don't think the guy in charge of CD donations decided to keep it.)

Kicked out? My understanding is that he disbanded, or tried to disband it. I think it's hard to get the real story behind these things, but I suspect that part of it was that he didn't want to deal with being legally responsible if anyone in the group actually went off and committed some major crime. But what I heard was definitely that he had declared TOPY to be over. I used to be a PTV mailing list and there was a lot of discussion of this at the time.

He has brought law-suits against certain individuals (including the members of PWOG, Psychick Warriors of Gaia) for using the Psychic Cross, which is now apparently trade-marked. All very bizarre.

He was injured when he jumped out of a window of a recording studio that was on fire, and ended up being awarded a million dollars in a settlement, which presumably is one reason he was able to return to England. (I have heard that he owed some back taxes.)

If nothing else, his life could be made into a really interesting biography (or movie).

five years pass...

This "Mary Never Wanted Jesus" album is fantastic. "Vitruvian Pan" is fantastic, too. This stuff is remaining far too hidden. I can easily see how I would have missed them. The music is often danceable and/or electronic, certainly modern, and still there's always a 60's psychedelic trip going on with lyrics and speech.

two weeks pass...

I've come to Time's Up late, after Vitruvian Pan & Mary Never Wanted Jesus, but I can say it's Times's Up that is the king of all.

I AM CONVINCED THAT GENESIS IS A GOD AND I WANT HIM/HER IN MY LIFE FOREVER.
