Who casts a bigger shadow with their tantalizing phantom contributions to the geists of their particular zeits?

Also, did both actually guarantee their influential status by designing the subconscious architecture of their respective projects and NOT compromising said status by sticking around and having to engage in the compromising politics and toil of having to realize/reveal their blueprints/palimpsests?

Darius is having another crack at it though, and who's to say Sutcliffe wouldn't have either? (In one parallel universe there is of course a living Stu and a dead Ringo and a cult group called The Beatles who were too arty to be successful but paved the way for Gerry and the Pacemakers...)
