Should I see Campag Velocet tomorrow?

They're playing at the 100 club on oxford street. I saw them in
the dublin castle ages ago (maybe 96 or 97?) and thought they were
pretty good. Then a few years later I heard their first album and
didn't like it. Then they disappeared. Now they've got a new album
out with some good reviews, but I haven't heard it. Any advice?

I saw them at the Bull and Gate a few years ago and they were absolutely appalling, we walked out, which is rare.
But the new album is supposed to be v.good

Their singer once buttonholed me in the Barfly because I was wearing a Spacemen 3 shirt. Seemed like a pretty nice guy, though. ;-)

I went! I thought they started v well...but when they came on Voss crossed off several tracks off the floor laid setlist - sure enough nothing off the first album (except maybe one or two but I failed to recognise them)...bizarre...they only came back on to do 'BCBG' after some serious crowd pressure and chanting. Some of the new stuff sounds alright - 'Trumping Men' v popular, but still not quite a patch on 'House Of Jealous Lovers', still a vague Mondays vibe but not enough frankly - came out thinking they could still do better (mainly just Voss, but hard to know what he's thinking generally).

three months pass...
They're playing again tomorrow (Friday) night at Canvas (which I think used to be Bagleys) at Kings Cross. You can get on the guest list and get in for free by registering at a website. There's DJs on as well and it goes til 4am. Can't remember the exact website, but try googling 'leyline' and 'killallhippies'.
