That Stewart Osborne would know...

Do you know that photo of Captain Beefheart? In the sunshine with a hat on, holding one of his artworks close up to underneath his chin, with a soulful look? Lateish period, obviously... possibly from 'Ice cream for crow'...

Yes?

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 19 August 2004 09:59 (twenty-one years ago)

The one taken by Anton Corbijn which originally graced the cover of NME week ending 15 November 1980?

Marcello Carlin, Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:07 (twenty-one years ago)

This one ihttp://www.freewebs.com/teejo/argue/tales.jpg ?

I've got a sodding great framed print of it on the wall in my study.

Why?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Try again!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:22 (twenty-one years ago)

Hmph! Why isn't that working now?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Bizarre, that just links back to this thread...

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Aaaaaah, knowing where I tried to nick that image from, I'm not surprised there's some trickery to prevent other people from stealing images that the webmaster stole ("I don't want to sell my music. I'd like to give it away, because where I got it from you didn't have to pay for it." - Don Van Vliet).

Actually 'though, now that I've read Mark's description again, I don't think the one I was trying to post (which I believe is also the one Marcello's refering to) is the one he's after.

".... holding one of his artworks close up to underneath his chin, with a soulful look?" actually sounds more like a still from (now let's see if this link works!)

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Obviously not.

How about this: the video for Ice Cream For Crow.

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I suspect the picture may well be at www.corbijn.co.uk , but my browser at work doesn't like the flash so I can't see anything apart from a black page.

aldo_cowpat (aldo_cowpat), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't know the question yet!

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:41 (twenty-one years ago)

cut and paste the link. then it works

david acid (gareth), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Woohoo!

Now let's see if I can get that first picture I was trying to post from another source....

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Or better still

(from www.corbijn.co.uk as Aldo suggested)

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

It might not be one of my brighter days but that's a hat not a painting

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Ahem.

"Actually 'though, now that I've read Mark's description again, I don't think the one I was trying to post.... is the one he's after".

"'.... holding one of his artworks close up to underneath his chin, with a soulful look?' actually sounds more like a still from the video for Ice Cream For Crow."

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

So anyway, what about it Mark?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

It might not be one of my brighter days but that's a hat not a painting

It's actually a hat painting replica

NickB (NickB), Thursday, 19 August 2004 11:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Rats!

Basically I took a picture of our Alice Ella, doing as described. It wasn't me telling her to, and she's not seen any photos of CptBee but it was such a 'pose' that I was going to do a 'Taking sides' type josh. But my webspace is shifting servers so I can't add it to the nice interweb.

Maybes laters.

Cheers anyhow

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 19 August 2004 12:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Alice Ella? as .... Guru?

Have you bought her i http://images-eu.amazon.com/images/P/B0002QPSU4.02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg yet?

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Or Alice Ella as in "Alice In Blunderland" AND "Ella Guru" perhaps?

Dadaismus (Dada), Thursday, 19 August 2004 14:17 (twenty-one years ago)

Dawn suggested Ella as a middle name. I was like "um, yeah!!"

Alice as in "Alice in Sunderland" (Shadows b-side)
Or, Alice Street in South Shields where we lived with my grandma when my dad was in the RAF.

Actually, Amber one morning was talking about "Alice" apropos nothing (being 18 months at the time), and I thought "Good name for the one due in two months"
