You are 34, how do you feel?

"every once in a while my mind flashes back to when i was a little boy
running around without a care for anything. everything was possible and
everyone was immortal. there was no one obstacle too big to conquer.
everything negative was only a tear away from recovery. the closets still
had monsters in them and the dark was only a place i used to hide. girls
were that funny feeling inside that made me blush and want to write
poems. parents were merely people who didn't understand me or had
forgotten why i did and said the things i would do or maybe they were just
people too busy being themselves to stop and think about their actions and
how the most simple things could scar an innocent child for the rest of their
life on this planet. rain was simply the time that your own room and all the
posters on the walls came to life and meant the world to you. learning was
something that couldn't be forced, but well recieved when actually
penetrating an interest of curiousity pertaining specifically to me and my
own mind. friends were people you truly trusted and thought would never
hurt you or lie to you until they do. saturday was the day made especially
for me to be free, watch cartoons, and stay up as late as i possibly could
knowing sunday was to follow. health was only a word that meant
something when i felt under the weather. grandparents were the
sweetest, coolest people alive who actually looked different, but acted like
they really understood me. the thought of them not being around much
longer never even crossed my mind. music was an instant obsession and
addiction because of its ability to engulf every sense in my body and cause
a reaction of absolute attention to all of the emotions that my soul was
capable of producing. this is what i think of when i think back to then and
amazingly enough not one single thing has changed. i don't think it ever
will."

Cool! Well, Happy Birthday!

"i do not like birthdays. it has been this way for me as long as i can remember.
i do not like recieving gifts either. it makes me feel very uncomfortable. i really
enjoy giving gifts and surprising people though. i cannot figure out why this
is. as a little boy i loved surprises and presents. my son loves them as well. i
guess i'm gonna have to figure it out later.

giving?

recieving?

balance?

moderation?

my mind is playing tricks on me. wait a minute, my mind is me. i'm playing
myself? ridicuous. right?"

actually I guess he may 34. At first I thought he was kinda rockin' that Flock Of Seagulls cut late in the game, but its not like he's the first to realize when a trend is over.

CeCe Peniston (Anthony Miccio), Friday, 20 August 2004 12:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Happy B-Day Fred.
