brought to mind by the mention of Wesley Willis on the "what's the easiest music to make?" thread.

see also: every indie band with a token drum machine song.

and there was the famous incident of DJ Clue outing Swizz Beatz for taking a demo straight out of a Roland and selling it as a beat of his own for Drag-On's "Down Bottom".

I bought a tiny Casio keyboard at a garage sale once and later discovered that a good number of the rhythm presets and the siren/alarm noises were used by Trans Am.

K. Blechdom, "I [heart] Presets" EP. All the songs on that kick ass.

I heard some of the drum presets on my old $100 Casio on the Fiery Furnaces record.

Slightly off-topic, but every time I go to the Loews theater on 14th street, I get weirded out by the bumper music from the in-lobby "show" thingy -- it's one of the pre-packaged loops from Reason 1.0. And I imagine some guy got paid a decent amount to do all the music for their in-lobby "info" "package" "thing."

Elastica used one of the "dog" presets on the Casio SK-5 on the start of "The Menace" LP.

I used to have a shitty little toy Casio that had the same little beat used in The Fall's "The Man Whose Head Expanded"

I was hearing some of the preset sample loops from the first reason sound bank in LOTS of clubby techno records a year or two ago. not so much anymore though.

Everybody on this thread is gay.

I admire your bravery in coming out on a public board like this, wonky_bar.

Miles Davis, on the Star People album.

I can't believe that no-one has mentioned "I'm losing my edge". The beat at the begining is a Casio preeset.

her space holiday. homeboy used a bunch of acid and sample cd sources without doing a thing to them. them gets pissy when you call him out on it.

If I remember correctly the lead synth of Stabbing Westward's "What Do I Have to Do?" was present number 001 on the Nord Lead. No idea why I remember that.
