Pimmon Assembler: mediocre or mild gem?

I was taken with this record after hearing only a few Mego recordings. I remember it being more melodic and bristling with texture, more satisfying in general than the Mego stuff. I also read somewhere that he had tracks for download that were meant to be played simultaneously with other specific pimmon tracks. any thoughts on these things?

havent a clue what releases i heard by him now, they weren't on mego tho. i tht he had something sometimes, like u say a really nice sense of texture, quite slight, not as obvious as a fennesz say, but also not enough fennesz nous to draw u in most of the time. i think i probably replaced him with ekkehard ehlers in my affections

its quite nice. more "beats" and pop then when i've seen him live.

it has been interesting to follow Paul Gough's progression from enthusiastic IDM-L poster to Mego mimic to the self-realized stylist of Secret Sleeping Birds, the SIRR.ecords CD that is the real prize in the Pimmonography. earlier efforts like Waves and Particles, the ERS 12". Kinetica, and the cdrs on Alienation, Freedom From, and CPsiP are all a good deal crunchier and minus the tuneful element. by Assembler he was getting there, but still emulating more than innovating. SSB saw Pimmon come of his own as an electronic artist. Aside from a few mp3s on fals.ch.i don't believe Gough has done anything for Mego.

i meant in comparison to the few mego recordings (in general) of pita, hecker, fennoberg etc. i had heard. i see that it's unclear in my original post. thanks for the responses.
