Just wondering. I know it doesn't come from the actual Red Cross.

What is this about?

Nowell, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Red Croissant would be a great band name!!!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:46 (twenty-one years ago)

or just 'Kroissant'!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Seriously, where does the name 'Redd Kross' come from?

Nowell, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Does anybody know?

Nowell, Wednesday, 25 August 2004 23:52 (twenty-one years ago)

It originally comes from a rather naughty scene in the "The Exorcist," then the charitable organization asked them to change their name to avoid confusion. So they went with the "metal" spelling.

Hey NowellDude! ;^)

Redd Kross was originally known as Red Cross until the real Red Cross went after them. Here is a picture of the original pressing of their first LP "Born Innocent":

They were named after Redd Foxx who of course later changed his name to Reddd Foxxx.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 26 August 2004 00:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Weird. There was a band at my high school named Reddd Foxxx.

Softly Weeping at the Oki Dog (Ben Boyer), Thursday, 26 August 2004 00:13 (twenty-one years ago)

(afaik, that comes from an old SNL news item)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Thursday, 26 August 2004 00:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, it was named after that movie 'The Exorcist'.
That fucking movie...it really scared me.

Nowell, Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:30 (twenty-one years ago)

It's actually spelled "Thee Exxorcist"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever.
Maybe it's not cool to say that I was scared...but I ain't gonna lie.

Nowell, Thursday, 26 August 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

It's a fuckin' scary movie......beautifully so (despite what Calum might have you believe)....

Taking Sides: William Friedkin's "The Exorcist" vs. Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining"

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 26 August 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

They're both comedies if you look at it from a misogynist's POV.

seyxDancer, Thursday, 26 August 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever happened to Pink Kross?

James Mitchell (James Mitchell), Thursday, 26 August 2004 20:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Whatever.

Nowell, would you rather nobody attempt to say anything smart or clever or funny in your presence? I've been reading the threads you've been posting on all week, and noboby's said anything right to you. It's all "whatever," "you're mean!" etc. Now I know you're a 15-year-old girl (since you mention it every other post), but since my own daughter just turned 16, I feel I'm in a position to ask: are you here to talk about music and be part of a community, or are you here to let all the fun out of everybody's tires?

And if everybody thinks I'm out of line, let the flames engulf me.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 26 August 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I was in a band called Grand Funk Reddenbacher for a week. We played one show.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Thursday, 26 August 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh, did the question get answered? Red Cross was their original name, until they got a call from the blood-drive people of the same name...

Pete Scholtes, Thursday, 26 August 2004 22:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Uh, Pete? did you read upthread a bit?

Born Innocent is a great record. I've never heard their (Kriss) Kross stuff.

joseph pot (STINKORâ„¢), Thursday, 26 August 2004 23:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I read that as Briss Kross for some reason and that's gotta be the name of my new band.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 27 August 2004 01:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Rock Hardy, I'm here to talk about music, mostly.
But you do say some mean, rude things, and I feel implied to tell you so...
You probably won't hear as much from me, since I'm in school now. (It was summer and...well, you know.)
Sorry if I'm SO ANNOYING...I thought you all liked me somewhat now.

Nowell, Friday, 27 August 2004 18:48 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do you take this all SO seriously?

Nowell, Friday, 27 August 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Mr.Pot....call on line two from a Mr.Kettle!!!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 27 August 2004 18:53 (twenty-one years ago)

You're sayin' that I take this too seriously?
Ok...I won't, then.
I just wanna have some fun, as Samantha Fox would say.
And I DO have questions about music.

Nowell, Friday, 27 August 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

And who's Calum?

Nowell, Friday, 27 August 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

x-post: - "Yes, Mr Kettle? Alex said what? You did? I am? Goodbye? Dial tone?"

joseph pot (STINKORâ„¢), Friday, 27 August 2004 22:42 (twenty-one years ago)

And who's Calum?

Shhhh.....don't wake him.
