Cuz I sooo wanted to, but was sidetracked by work. Please make me feel like a moron for missing it.

YOU FUCKING MORON

It was so awesome. my friends and I rolled up 7 deep drunk on Tecante. We were getting buck-fucking-wild and it was so hot and sweaty and muddy and drizzling and as he was DJing lightning hit the Sears Tower and it was one of those moments you know?

I regret it, too, but I had band practice. :(

I didn't know you were in Chicago, frankE!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 26 August 2004 15:04 (twenty-one years ago)

"regret missing it," obv.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 26 August 2004 15:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Indeed. Currently in Pilsen, but moving to Edgewater this week.

Can't believe I missed that last night. Really, really unhappy about it.

frankE (frankE), Thursday, 26 August 2004 15:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Currently in Pilsen, but moving to Edgewater this week.

We will be neighbors, then. I'm right on the border between Andersonville and Edgewater.

i hate living in england when this happens.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Thursday, 26 August 2004 15:25 (twenty-one years ago)

You don't get many people who have been DJ'ing since the early 70s who can still be contemporary. FK is one. If it was my Dad who's the same age, he'd be playing "The Dooleys" records all evening.

Argh I wanted to do this too but knew I wouldn't be able to convince my girlfriend that it would be cool and also I had band practice as well.

What kinda stuff did he spin? Any classics?

perhaps we can hold an ILM symposium at the hop leaf?

frankE (frankE), Thursday, 26 August 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

It wouldn't be the first time.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 26 August 2004 17:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha ha, meaning we were all just there this past Friday.

n.a. (Nick A.), Thursday, 26 August 2004 17:59 (twenty-one years ago)

It's also where I first met Kenan!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 26 August 2004 18:11 (twenty-one years ago)

It was really good. The rain wasn't bad at all - quite pleasant, actually. Yeah, that lightning was insane! I think that's the closest view of lightning I've ever had in my life. Insane that it hit the tower. Djdee did you see the all the sparks trailing away from it? Wicked.

He pretty much played just full-on pumping deep house. I did recognize any tracks until the very last one - his "Whistle Song". There was a great track he dropped towards the end that I wish I knew the name of. this awesome rolling bassline with like a clavinet-like tone over top, then these strings came in after about 4 minutes ... damn, I guess I'll never know.
