Music to write papers by

I've found myself writing several late papers at the end of this summer and want to know: what are your favorite epic soundtracks for churning out those masterworks of academic insight and brill- ...oh fuck it, just recommend something great to listen to. Right now I'm having a good time with the Good, the Bad and the Ugly soundtrack but I need fresh meat for the grinder. Ambient? Rousing? Whatever?

I often listen to Laurent Garnier when doing essays.

Merzbow and grindcore used to come in handy around 2 a.m.
Seriously.

I preferred relatively ambient in college...Telefon Tel Aviv, Radiohead, GYBE. But really, the only thing that would actually help me write papers was when 5 a.m. rolled around.

Grindcore yep I can actually understand especially where you can't understand the lyrics and the rest is a tumultuous roar. But my fave for actually getting the writing done is classical. Specifically baroque era but really anything good.

I once finished a history paper to the CD single of Rozalla's "Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)", set on auto-repeat. In retrospect, it was a bit brain-damaging.

Drum N' Bass / Jungle type stuff was my writing music of choice in college.

Apparently, a study showed that the best music for studying and writing essays etc. was Pink Floyd. Probably won't work if you can't stand them though. I remember the headmaster telling us that when I was at school.

I wrote my thesis to Dee Dee King!

I wrote probably 90% of my papers in college to DJ Shadow's Endtroducing. One bad thing about it though is that whenever I listen to it now it brings back memories of old calculus problems...

When you're practicing yr Logic homework over and over again, no matter the time of day, so that you can pass (if only by a hair) and graduate:
