1. The Beatles
2. The Clash.....and I love the Clash
3. Sid Vicious....he doesn't embody anything, and he didn't contribute enough to the band he was to warrant the coverage.
4. Brtiney Spears

Others?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark E. Smith smiling.

Huk-L, Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Gotta disagree there, Huk. I think a cover story about The Fall would be refreshing.....as disquieting as Smith's visage has become.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Jim Morrison
Mick Jagger

frankE (frankE), Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, I get it, you're talking about overexposure, not just ugly fugs.

Um, okay, Dylan, natcherly.

Huk-L, Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

xpost, ALL BOOMERS AWAY FROM THE MAGAZINE RACKS NOW!

Huk-L, Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Mark E. Smith should be on the cover of Teen People.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:45 (twenty-one years ago)

This thread is really just motivated by the recent covers of MOJO and UNCUT (featuring the Beatles and the Clash, respectively). I'm not knocking the bands here, but c'mon...haven't we exhumed corpses already and sifted through every last detail that could possibly be discussed already? Aren't even the fans of these bands tired of it?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

M E. S dishes the dirt on hot fall fashion!

Huk-L, Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:46 (twenty-one years ago)

"Aren't even the fans of these bands tired of it?"

Um, Beatles fans tired of looking at pictures of the Beatles?

scott seward (scott seward), Thursday, 9 September 2004 19:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Sid Vicious....he doesn't embody anything

wow, speechless

kephm, Thursday, 9 September 2004 20:00 (twenty-one years ago)

By that I meant that Sid Vicious is ultimately just a red herring...a convenient cartoon character which only served to discredit Punk Rock as a passing fad.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Thursday, 9 September 2004 20:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Nirvana - and I love Nirvana.
I mean, I'm only 15, and I've seen them on magazine covers a LOT.

Nowell, Thursday, 9 September 2004 20:29 (twenty-one years ago)

15? cripes.

Bernard Sumner. Cos he's got nothing to say in interviews, nothing to say in his lyrics...just a tedious everyman who found himself in the spotlight cos of Ian...

elvis, for so many reasons.

anyone from a fame academy type show.

minge, Friday, 10 September 2004 00:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Lenny Kravitz.

So I don't look at it in a magazine rack accidentally and then I throw up and then I have to buy all the magazines because I threw up on all the magazines and the shop has to close down because there's no more magazines left in the magazine shop because I threw up on them.

Sorry about that. I just needed to get the horrible feel from my typing fingers from typing 'Lenny Kravitz'.

'discredit'?

dave q, Friday, 10 September 2004 03:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Magazine strictly enforced a no-cameo rule whenever we did covers. What's all this then?

Howard Devoto, Friday, 10 September 2004 05:31 (twenty-one years ago)

MICHAEL JACKSON (unless in prison garb; and even then, only from the nose down.)

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Friday, 10 September 2004 09:32 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think i've ever seen elvis on the cover of any music magazine (except the rolling stone that came out after he died, obv).

Who should be on covers MORE often?

Nowell, Friday, 10 September 2004 18:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Thank you, Poppy, you have made my day!

n/a (Nick A.), Friday, 10 September 2004 18:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Doobie Keebler (Charles McCain), Saturday, 11 September 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

No one's mentioned Oasis yet?

Heh. Probably because their era of landing magazine covers is deservedly OVER at last.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 11 September 2004 18:09 (twenty-one years ago)
