That'r right - the Silkworm guy. The guy who (I'm pretty sure) wrote the only Silkworm song I ever loved, "Couldn't You Wait." Anyway I got this EP in the mail on ThreeLobed and it rules, I've had it on repeat for two days. Totally bonkers Zombies cover, but that's not the best of it - some REALLY great songs. I hesistate to even alert anyone to it because our new band wants to cover one of the songs and every time we cover something, Devendra or Palace or somebody go ahead and beat us to it (usually the artist, not the song, but STILL...) - Download "Bar Ice" or "Young" if you can

what Zombies song does he cover?

Hmm. I should order this, I'm an unabashed Silkworm fan.

"Time of the Season," weirdly enough.

n/a, you should. Like I said, I never really took to Silkworm - liked the slightly overrated Libertine OK enough, the odd song I'd play on my radio show in college (perfect, I know) - but this EP (and The Dirty South) are the only things I've been listening to the past few days. We're totally covering "Young"

what's with ex-silkworm guys doing good music (joel rl phelps albums are excellent as well)?

Silkworm with Joel phelps was a fuckin great band so of course the solo endeavors should follow suit, no?

roger you got my interest by acknowledging the superiority of "Couldn't You Wait" to just about everything else I've heard by these guys (who, at the very least, I respect. I guess).

The funny thing about "Couldn't You Wait (Acoustic)" from the Marco Collins EP (and the What's Up Matador comp) is that it's the best thing I've heard of theirs and sonuvabitch if it doesn't sound exactly like the Counting Crows. Disturbing to say the least.

Hmmm. Maybe. But Adam Duritz would never sing "All these straight girls are insane beasts" or "How would you like to get your face slapped?"

That may be my all time favorite indie rock tune. Both versions. So fucking bitchy and just plain kickass.

While the EP doesn't have the same cynical quality, there are at least two songs on it that reminded me of why I liked "Couldn't You Wait." Check it out!

not on the hits, but he gets a little pissy on album tracks. but yeah "CYW" is great and I'll look for this.
