SEND ME A PLANE TICKET AND I'LL GO

Dan Perry '08 (Dan Perry), Friday, 10 September 2004 19:27 (twenty-one years ago)

that good?

manuel (manuel), Friday, 10 September 2004 19:28 (twenty-one years ago)

Last I saw him he had a full on band behind him, keytars and everything. It rocked.

I regret missing him the last time he played Toronto. He makes fantastic records and is supposed to be just as engaging live.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 10 September 2004 20:16 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw his live PA in Toronto a couple of years ago. Amazing. "Engaging" is certainly a good word for it. I've never heard him DJ, though.

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Saturday, 11 September 2004 16:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Saw him live in Chicago a couple years ago as well and it was awesome... if his DJ sets are half as good as the live than you should go.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Saturday, 11 September 2004 16:23 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd go!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 11 September 2004 16:42 (twenty-one years ago)

See him in Edinburgh last year during the festival and really enjoyed myself. Had gone with a good bunch of people which probably added to it. So I think you should go. Or send Dan a plane ticket!

fractal (fractal), Saturday, 11 September 2004 17:01 (twenty-one years ago)

You managed to enjoy the festival thing, fractal? I could hardly breathe at it...

___ (___), Saturday, 11 September 2004 17:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw him a couple weeks ago in grant park. Don't walk, run to see him, etc. It was amazing, intense...like all of chicago came out to hear him play the percolator.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Saturday, 11 September 2004 18:54 (twenty-one years ago)

yeah! he also dropped "personal jesus" and "miura" during that set.

he's not the most amazingly flawless dj you'll ever hear, but he does lots of wicked juxtapositions with seemingly dissimilar records/genres and knows how to work a crowd. if you've never gone to see him play, you should definitely go. his new track that samples "house of jealous lovers" is great. one of the contemporary chicago greats that's for sure.

tricky disco (disco stu), Saturday, 11 September 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Saw the DEMF set years ago and loved it...his DJ'ing should be great, too. But where's it at?

Erick H (Erick H), Saturday, 11 September 2004 22:32 (twenty-one years ago)

Monterrey, Mexico, Skizzo Club

He was here a couple of years ago but I foolishly missed it...kicked myself for months for it

manuel (manuel), Sunday, 12 September 2004 01:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't feel to crowded at that concert triple. I wasn't completely sober and the crowd seemed quite positive. Maybe I was just lucky. Where you right down the front? I was roughly in the middle which possibly helped.

Can't remember it in too much detail sadly. Just remember having a great night.

moonship journey to baja, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 06:24 (eighteen years ago)

Had a great time when I saw him earlier this year, the room was like a third full and no-one cared (well the promoters probably did)

DJ Mencap, Tuesday, 11 December 2007 09:32 (eighteen years ago)

he spins alllll the time around here

He's played Seattle a couple time in the last couple of years. Always a blast. He doesn't bring much, but he doesn't need. He just sways with his mic, and dj rig... essential: Steve Reich/Vitalic mash that culminates many of his sets. Astounding.

Mackro Mackro, Wednesday, 2 April 2008 03:11 (eighteen years ago)

Unsurprising, Green Velvet = huuuuge Nitzer Ebb fan.

Is it just coincidence that every time (of three) I've seen him it's been facemeltingly loud, or does he have a reputation for this?

DJ AMencap (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 1 September 2009 09:35 (sixteen years ago)

it's still time for the percolator
