alfalfa romeo (natepatrin), Saturday, 25 September 2004 16:50 (twenty-one years ago)

I know lots of corny indie fucks here who seem to give a pass on quality to any shitty britpop band from the mid 90s!

"Carrot Rope" was Pavement's only UK top 40, mainly off the back of "Like Blur? You'll love this" recommendations in certain music mags.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:05 (twenty-one years ago)

that can't be true.. can it?

cutty (mcutt), Saturday, 25 September 2004 18:07 (twenty-one years ago)

A number of American friends worship Robyn Hitchcock and Dan Tracy, who are the proverbial prophets without (much)honour in their own country.

And then there's Paul Roland, huge in Italy, practically invisible here.

Justine from Elastica almost joined the Jicks.
"13" by Blur has a ridiculous Pavement influence.
And Stephen Malkmus hates Damon Albarn.

costa! (costa!), Saturday, 25 September 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

pavement did a pisstake "wonderwall" cover once.

Cripps Pink (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 25 September 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

manthony m1cc1o (Anthony Miccio), Saturday, 25 September 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I never liked Brit Pop.

Number One Cup were massive here. Dinosaur Jr were on Top of the Pops (Feel the Pain).

jel -- (jel), Sunday, 26 September 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Sebadoh got on Top Of The Pops too w/ Flame.

NickB (NickB), Sunday, 26 September 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Why does Stephen Malkmus hate Damon Albarn? Tosser.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 26 September 2004 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Tosser.

dude, you just answered your own question.

cis (cis), Sunday, 26 September 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I guess so.

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 26 September 2004 21:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Though I've never heard that Malkmus hates Albarn before, just that he found the 'blur' album-era emulation a little odd. And Albarn's a bit of a prat, you have to admit.
