i saw an ad in some catalogue for a four disc Flower Power boxset. i only remember it contained Cream and Velvet Underground (?!?). So probably that one while going mad with laughter.

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Sunday, 26 September 2004 19:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh!? So that's gonna be one of those, erm, special empty white rooms, soundproof and everything?

peepee (peepee), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm going to listen to that godawful Suitcase boxset — a kind of self-flagellation for actually shelling out $90 for more of Pollard's turds. I'm planning on selling this in the very near future but would feel slightly better if I managed to actually listen to the entire thing.

Bruce S. Urquhart (BanjoMania), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:32 (twenty-one years ago)

...and Ken, how do you know about my empty white room?

peepee (peepee), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Ralph Lundsten retrospective. (I'm not actually going to buy this any time soon.)

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Louis Armstrong, The Complete Hot Five And Hot Seven Recordings. Or Lee Morgan, The Complete Blue Note Fifties Sessions.

pdf (Phil Freeman), Sunday, 26 September 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Pat, do you have an empty white room? i'll have to check it out sometime when i'm home!

t\'\'t (t\'\'t), Sunday, 26 September 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I've heard Nuggets too many times. Either No Thanks or that Pearl Jam radio 4-CD set with The Fastbacks, Soundgarden, Mad Season and Mudhoney.

billstevejim, Sunday, 26 September 2004 21:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Both Box of Bongwater and Kesto are great choices but I'm going to opt for either Stiff Box or that new Low set (if the DVD counts as a fourth disc), depending on my mood.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 26 September 2004 22:09 (twenty-one years ago)

The Stiff Box roxoroxoroxorocks!

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 26 September 2004 23:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Aja (aja), Sunday, 26 September 2004 23:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Or Pere Ubu's Datapanik... Hmm.

I'll take one of Aja's then and she can have her Discord x3.

Begs2Differ (Begs2Differ), Monday, 27 September 2004 00:50 (twenty-one years ago)

This is easy -- Coltrane Live at the Village Vanguard

Second pick -- maybe one of the Stax boxes (I don't remember if any are four discs exactly).

Saints "All Times Through Paradise" of course

mentalist (mentalist), Monday, 27 September 2004 02:22 (twenty-one years ago)

dan bunnybrain (dan bunnybrain), Monday, 27 September 2004 02:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, I bought that Count Basie's Orchestra America's #1 Band 4cd set about a half a year ago, and I'm ashamed to admit I never made it past the first 2 discs. Mainly because I didn't feel like I was giving it the attention it deserves. So I'd probably take that with me and relish the opportunity to listen attentitively.

Roy Williams Highlight (diamond), Monday, 27 September 2004 02:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The Disintegration Loops. Better keep me away from sharp objects and gas ovens afterwards though.

Lukas (lukas), Monday, 27 September 2004 03:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Nuggets II!

Hayden (Pow, Pow, Pow) (haitch), Monday, 27 September 2004 03:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Searching for diamonds in the sulphur mine,
leaning on props that are rotten,
hoping for anything, looking for a sign
that I am not forgotten.
Lost in a labyrinth of future mystery,
tracing my steps, all mistaken,
trusting to everything, praying it can be
that I am not forsaken.

Van Der Graaf Generator, The Box, obviously.

Ranking Rupert (Ranking Rupert), Monday, 27 September 2004 05:38 (twenty-one years ago)
