Just read that Andy Pemberton was let go as editor-in-chief of Blender. (http://nytimes.com/2004/09/25/business/media/25mag.html) Anyone else as surprised as I am?

Yes.

I thought everything was going well there...

Maybe he wanted to take things in a different direction?

yeah, it kinda sucks but was still basically the only music mag left i would occasionally read for free at the bookstore or buy at an airport newsstand

congratulations (n/a), Thursday, 26 March 2009 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

yeah the obnoxiousness seemed to tone down in recent years and i always appreciated the wider variety of genres they covered xpost

the worst breed of fong (some dude), Thursday, 26 March 2009 16:17 (seventeen years ago)

yeah, it's a real tough market for polyglot publications, and I'm sad to see em go! :(

back before joe levy took over, it was my favorite music mag by a long stretch. it had gotten a bit worse but it was still the best mainstream mag covering pop

They had a pretty good review section, hired smart writers.
