A lot of them are thanks to gov't names.

What does this mean? I'm curious. It's the most baffling thing I've read here lately.

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 10:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Is that a label or something?

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh never mind, I just remembered! I visited there once.

Rockist_Scientist (rockist_scientist), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 10:47 (twenty-one years ago)

CRCR re-ish.

Always happy to be happily surprised by something I didn't see coming, but I'm not expecting anything else incredible this year.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Dave M. (rotten03), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Reed Rosenberg (reed), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Mos Def, Tom Waits, and maybe Mars Volta if that's coming out soon. Also Hot 8 Brass Band and Mike Ladd, if either of those actually come out.

Tom Waits, thats another one i forgot.

djdee2005 (djdee2005), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think Arthur Russell's "World of Echo" hasn't been reissued yet.

The new Low album comes out in January '05 on Sub Pop if you want to start the 2005 game.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:33 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a new Mike Ladd album coming out!?!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:35 (twenty-one years ago)

Damnit loud Brians from Providence, put out albums faster.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Nick, Negrophilia was supposed to be out on Thirsty Ear a couple of months ago, and even Mike confirmed it. The release date came and went, no record. I read somewhere that it's been pushed back to sometime within the next few months, can't remember when (if that's even true).

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

GOD DAMNIT RECORD LABELS STOP BEING SO SHADY WITH RELEASE DATES

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:44 (twenty-one years ago)

Because that reminds me of the Cee-Lo album, which reminds me of Cee-Lo, which reminds me of Goodie Mob...I heard the brand new Cee-Lo-less Goodie Mob album yesterday and it made me SAD.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:45 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www2.metacritic.com/music/upcomingreleases.shtml

Dude, Metacritic says the new Mike Ladd is supposed to be out Oct. 26th! That would make me happy. And apparently there's a new Handsome Boy Modelling School collab as well?

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 29 September 2004 18:47 (twenty-one years ago)

The new set is overflowing with guest spots, including Jack Johnson, Kid Koala, the RZA, the Neptunes' Pharrell Williams and Mike Patton, with whom Nakamura previously collaborated in the project Lovage.

Old-school hip-hop meets new rock on "Rock and Roll (Could Never Hip Hop Like This), featuring Linkin Park's Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda as well as Lord Finesse, Jazzy Jay and Grand Wizard Theodore.

Elsewhere, Cat Power offers breathy intonations over the languid "I've Been Thinking" and the RZA spits verse alongside the Mars Volta's Cedric Bixler and Omar Rodriguez on "A Day in the Life."

But perhaps the strangest pairing can be found on the alternate-universe, adult contemporary-leaning "Greatest Mistake," which sports Hall & Oates' John Oates, Tarnation's Paula Frazer and up-and-coming pop artist Jaime Cullum.
