Would "the Howling Hex" have existed if not for the hexen master himself???

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 30 September 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

wtin, Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I almost named the "record label" that I started back in '94 "Rowche Recordings" but "food of the gods" won out (1 release and counting!)

ianinportland (ianinportland), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Wings was certainly the worst of those bands.

ratedape? apecape! destroy you now, suck you off later, Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:24 (twenty-one years ago)

Sparta

Loose Translation: Sexy Dancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm betting there is a band called "The Steak Place"

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Old Rochester NY band--Head Full Of Steam

Stephen Boyle (SBoyle), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:35 (twenty-one years ago)

since i can't actually think of any, i'm gonna continue to be an obnoxious joker and say Pearl Jam

as in "...as you listen to pearl jam in your room/you clench your fists and sing this tune..."

andrew m. (andrewmorgan), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:40 (twenty-one years ago)

There must be at least 10 tribute bands in & around Manchester, no?

If not, I suggest:
Bombast, Tempo House, Bingo Mastrs, Elastic Men, Glam-Ric

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 30 September 2004 16:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Not a band, but I recently bought this amazing comp at Wal-Mart for a dollar:

My fantasy football team is called Hip Priest (Priest Holmes, RB).

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm kidding.

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Damo Suzuki.

ha.

dave225 (Dave225), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:22 (twenty-one years ago)

The Smiths (not named after a song, I know).

briania (briania), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Dice Men would be a good name for an intellectual punk band.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:33 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd like to see a band called The Men Whose Heads Expanded.

everything1967, Thursday, 30 September 2004 17:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I think there was a Fall covers band in Leicester featuring Prolapse members called Ludgang.

Kipple (Kipple), Thursday, 30 September 2004 18:06 (twenty-one years ago)

N.W.R.A. (well almost)

Myonga Von Bontee (Myonga Von Bontee), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a band called Dragnet that may conceivably have been named after the album. Came from Minneapolis I think; put out at least a couple of great singles and a patchy album in the late 80s. One single, So Blind, is an absolute corker of Husker Du-meets-New Order dimensions.

NickB (NickB), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

There should be a record label called Rebellious Jukebox.

nickn (nickn), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:53 (twenty-one years ago)

There was I think. I've got a free 7" on Rebellious Jukebox records with Totally Wired fanzine somewhere. God knows what was on it. A good couple of years ago.

Kipple (Kipple), Thursday, 30 September 2004 20:59 (twenty-one years ago)

-- everything

They were named after me, surely?

I think there was a Fall covers band in Leicester featuring Prolapse members called Ludgang.
-- Kipple

Ludd Gang, I think.

There's a type of animal produce named after a Fall song.

emil.y (emil.y), Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:05 (twenty-one years ago)

There used to be a record store in Seattle called Rebeliious Jukebox.

Loose Translation: Sexy Dancer (sexyDancer), Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Vixen

NickB (NickB), Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:22 (twenty-one years ago)

"The Dice Men would be a good name for an intellectual punk band"

I could see it, but Andrew Dice Clay already goes by the name "The DICEMAN" and he's neither punk nor intellectual.

everything, Thursday, 30 September 2004 21:28 (twenty-one years ago)

aphex twin = The Dice Man

Dan Selzer (Dan Selzer), Thursday, 30 September 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

One of my bands is currently undergoing a name change.

I'm pushing for 'The Chapel-British Grenadiers' (or perhaps 'CB Grenadiers'), which is a result of my misreading a Fall Peel sesh track: 'Gross Chapel / GB Grenadiers'

Sasha (sgh), Friday, 1 October 2004 04:00 (twenty-one years ago)

Shit yer right, Selzer! I wouldn't have thought of that connection.

Bimble (bimble), Friday, 1 October 2004 07:58 (twenty-one years ago)

The A-Frames used to be the Bends who used to be Bend Sinister.

hector savage, Friday, 1 October 2004 22:37 (twenty-one years ago)

There used to be an alcopop drink in the UK called Hex-Wired.

Fall Peel sesh track: 'Gross Chapel / GB Grenadiers'

Jesus, that sounds delicious. I'm sure I had it at one point...

Bimble (bimble), Saturday, 2 October 2004 07:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually I'm sure I have that, it's just that it's all the way across the country in a place I can't get to right now. Argh.

Bimble (bimble), Saturday, 2 October 2004 07:15 (twenty-one years ago)

four years pass...

This new album by Bend Sinister is great! It's a fairly ambitious concept albumm kinda like Supertramp meets Meatloaf. Parts of certainly remind me of The Darkness also, which is absolutely acceptable with me. The cover is a huge mistake though - a bunch of indie idiots browsing in a bookstore. What a let-down.

Whose debut was fantastic, sophomore effort not so much despite my giving them props for trying the orchestral route.

Man, there are so many Fall threads. This one looks to be the most appropriate to post the below on though.

Funds are tight, so I'm biting the bullet and finally putting my old Fall board game collection up for auction. Just got them out of storage. Not seen this one for a while. #ebay pic.twitter.com/CCWZ9DjCBU

Just looking up the thread i saw that Ludd Gang, the Prolapse offshoot, mentioned. Saw them around that time - they were really good! best MES styling u ever saw.

Fizzles, Friday, 15 March 2019 20:43 (seven years ago)
