I feel like we should discuss how great this song is.

i agree, it is great. the album isn't, but this is. he's just too damn polite much of the time.

so polite he turned Jeep Ass Niguh into "Born to Roll"! Still good, not as good as JAN. Do I sense a Masta Ace renaissance brewing? Ah, the irony.

I think I'm the only one on ILM who has heard the new album. I don't know what kind of renaissance that would be. I'd recommend it to anyone who liked him in the past though.

Born to Roll had that incredibly sickening sizzling bassline buzz sound, it wasn't just a deep jeep-booming sub-bass, there was a really nasty slicing quality to the midrange of the bassline too. It brings tears to your eyes . . . .

Nah I heard the new one, I reviewed it for stylus. Its pretty good. I gave it a 6, could have been a 7.

But yeah nothing on there as good as "Born to Roll"

Love "Born to Roll".

Great song! Underrated MC....now retired I guess....farewell Masta....go somewhere nice where there's no mosquitos....fuck it, have a cappacino.

I really disliked the new Masta Ace on first listen but I'm finding it kind of hard to really hate on it after second listen. Coincidentally enough I brought up how "Born to Roll" should've been a huge hit if not for label stupidity when I submitted a second opinion for an upcoming Seattle Weekly piece; this is weird timing.

the new one really grew on me. there's some catchy shit on there. and it's pretty solid too as an album. Not a ton of filler. And i can even handle the whole thematic skit thing, which is a rarity for me. "bklyn masala" could be a hit. if he had, like, a zillion dollars to make it one, that is.

in 1995 I use to cruise down mill avenue in tempe arizona bumping born to roll trying to look as hard as I possibly could while driving my mom's 1983 toyota cressida
