They have a show coming up in LA...

Brilliant? Or smugly clever and annoying? Or both/neither?

Never seen them live, but that album is a blast. More importantly, though, that show is with The Silversun Pickups (that was Los Angeles and not Louisiana, right?), who are amazing... total "Gish"-y shoegaze rock with excellent guitar freakouts. I don't think I had ever heard of the venue, though. King King or something?

I saw 'em a couple times in Portland prior to their album, and they were hit or miss - mostly the variable being that they had relatively unreliable equipment that would fuck up massively on occasion, thus grinding things to a halt. I would assume that their relative success since then means they've gotten their act together a bit more.

The venue is on Hollywood Blvd. around Las Palmas, on the North side of the street.

Sorry! A button gets pushed every time expressing one's opinion on ILM crosses the line into personal insults (I was the person who called the album a "blast"). This dude pities me for liking the album? Come on.

I agree! Personal insults are not only uncool, but they aren't tolerated here, as you're probably aware.

And really, I always prefer a "Fuck you Thea" to a snide jibe at my personal taste.
