Songs About Dogs?

Was "Shiloh" really about a dog? I always thought it was about an imaginary friend.

Oh yeah, and McCartney's "Martha My Dear" and "Jet."

(and "dirty old egg sucking dog" was written by jack clement)

and because i was listening to it in my car this weekend.

The "Hound Dog" is a no good, broke-ass scrubby man who comes around thinking he can get something out of the woman. "you ain't never caught a rabbit" is like "You've never done anything for me. You're no breadwinner." Yes, the high class thing also suggests a person.
