should we damn it for all the horrid, weepy, rainy guitar gunk it opened the door to.

(I've never heard this comp myself. Never even seen it in a store. Am I wasting my time trying to find it?)

I had the original. It was a lot of muddy dirges and noisy hard rock. Not bad, not great. Most of the bands sounded very embryonic or not at all like they would as they got better in the studio. It was quickly overrun.
