You are crazy. There is no new Nancy Sinatra album. Nancy Sinatra died of a brain aneurysm in 1988. You are nuts.

Nabisco wins for the most stone-faced response imaginable.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 18:18 (twenty-one years ago)

I liked it, though that doesn't mean much.

Leon Czolgosz (Nicole), Tuesday, 26 October 2004 18:19 (twenty-one years ago)

work has numbed my brain to the point that, when i saw that response (Nabisco), i wondered genuinely if i'd made the whole thing up. watch as the internet breeds self doubt and confusion.

If you dig Nance, try Gram Rabbit - Music to Start a Cult To.

I had forgotten the gimmick behind this album as I listened to it today, and I was like, OMG this track sounds like SONIC YOUTH!! I was less impressed when I put it together, but it's still really good.

I am going to see her LIVE!

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Where? I will go to Maxwell's in December, most likely.

Mary (Mary), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Bimbo's!

Damn Yankees- High Enough (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Ugh, that Thurston Moore song is dreadful!

The rest is reasonably good. Better than expected, anyway.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:22 (twenty-one years ago)

i love that sonic youth song.

splooge (thesplooge), Thursday, 28 October 2004 09:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Gah! I'd totally forgotten about this album, and how much I wanted to hear it. Is it really really good?

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 28 October 2004 12:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It is really good, lex.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Thursday, 28 October 2004 12:08 (twenty-one years ago)

why must so many people release good music when I have so little money?

I will put Nancy on my Xmas list.

The Lex (The Lex), Thursday, 28 October 2004 12:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, she's also playing at Joe's Pub, which is more convenient, but less likely to provide the opportunity to shamelessly press for Moz anecdotes.

Mary (Mary), Thursday, 28 October 2004 14:22 (twenty-one years ago)

It was a decent show, though the 5-minute Morrissey photo-montage was a bit much.

adam... (nordicskilla), Saturday, 6 November 2004 22:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Thurston Moore song? Wait, don't tell me she went and pulled a Loretta Lynn on us with this album.

Hurting (Hurting), Saturday, 6 November 2004 22:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, I guess she did. I think the TM song is pretty terrible.

adam... (nordicskilla), Saturday, 6 November 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
I like the Thurston Moore song a lot, and love the album, but it's really all about the closing two tracks, which are just heartbreaking and gorgeous.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't listened to the album, but I saw most of it performed in early September live (at Bumbershoot).. with the former drummer of the Attractions, no less. It all sounds great, and I'm tempted to pick it up. The Thurston Moore song is great, but it is pretty much a Thurston Moore song that Nancy and band is covering, essentially... melody, lyrics, and all. In fact, Nancy commented on the song after she performed it and said "Oh, I love Thurston Moore, and I LOVE Sonic Youth... but, we're still trying to figure out what the lyrics mean." And there was a photo montage song during the concert, but it was a montage of Nancy appearances in films, and it was certainly a Nancy classic.

What did Adam mean by Morrissey montage, exactly?

donut christ (donut), Thursday, 25 November 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I saw her in October, and during the song she did with MOrrissey off her new album, there was a montage of photos that apparently were from the same photo shoot that the one at the top of the thread was taken at. It was really corny. The song sounded good though.

My favorite part of the show was during "Boots." She walked into the audience and let people sing into the mic. At one point, she was like a foot away from me, maaaan. I've never been so thrilled to be so close to a 60-something-year-old woman.
