sleep (sleep), Wednesday, 27 October 2004 22:53 (twenty-one years ago)

The Libertines should have opened for the Cherrystones mix

DougD, Thursday, 28 October 2004 00:43 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks for the corrections on the tracklisting ... i was going to put this up today. i'll do the corrections and then put it up. yeah, i think cherrystones is doing a full set of dj gigs in london soon.

doomie x, Thursday, 28 October 2004 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep being told to listen to Cherrystones (I think it's them, unless there's another Cherryband around) by the same various people that kept bugging me to listen to Delays. Should I make the effort? You know I hate music.

That said, someone tied me down (OK, bribed me with vodka) and forced me to listen to The Earlies last week at a party, and I had to admit that I enjoyed them.

Too bad I'm at a web cafe and can't download any of this, it looks like a good mix. :-(

Kissing Time At The Pleasure Unit (kate), Thursday, 28 October 2004 10:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Cherrystones is a DJ. I can honestly say that he is the best rock/psych/freakbeat/hiphop/weirdo/kraut rock dj around ... if he recommends something to me - i buy blind and am never disappointed. he is spot on with future classics and lost classics.

doomie x, Thursday, 28 October 2004 13:30 (twenty-one years ago)

so how soon are the dj gigs happening?

lauren (laurenp), Thursday, 28 October 2004 14:15 (twenty-one years ago)

where are you located lauren??

doomie x, Thursday, 28 October 2004 15:19 (twenty-one years ago)

rog - where does that wooden wand song come from? is it from one of the new releases? keep me updated bro!

Ian John50n (orion), Thursday, 28 October 2004 19:47 (twenty-one years ago)

I haven't heard the mix cd that we're on, but I thought it was "Return of the Nose," which is from the XIAO LP.

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:04 (twenty-one years ago)

ah ha. okay. gotcha! (i don't know your song titles, come to think of it...)

Ian John50n (orion), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

that's ok, sometimes we don't either

Roger Fidelity (Roger Fidelity), Thursday, 28 October 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

hey wow, just clued in that you are the guy from wooden wand. you should drop gareth an email @ [email protected] - he would dig it.

in fact, email him and buy a dj mix. they are really fucking good. he is diying it. and could use the support...

ps. i am no way connected to him other than he does really good music.

doomie x, Thursday, 28 October 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

does he sell this mix?

cutty (mcutt), Thursday, 28 October 2004 21:45 (twenty-one years ago)

nah, it's a mix called 'all party no bullshit' - 80 minutes long, proper dj mix ... that was just a radio show.

doomie x, Friday, 29 October 2004 07:03 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm in london now, for a while.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 October 2004 09:05 (twenty-one years ago)

i think he is djing for a record opening for pedro - along with manitoba. hold on - i'll get info.

doomie x, Friday, 29 October 2004 10:43 (twenty-one years ago)

hey lauren,

that one party i was thinking of has already passed - checked my email - i emailed him to ask him when the next dj stint is.

doomie x, Friday, 29 October 2004 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

his pedro remix is highlight of that Pedro ep if you ask me ..

mark e (mark e), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:13 (twenty-one years ago)

thanks, d. that's very nice of you.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 October 2004 11:33 (twenty-one years ago)

that's cool. hope he gets back to me. he's been hitting me with top ten lists that i've become well, addicted to.

doomie x, Friday, 29 October 2004 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I wonder who the mysterious Cherryband are then. Hrmmm.

Kissing Time At The Pleasure Unit (kate), Friday, 29 October 2004 12:28 (twenty-one years ago)

there's an amazing 60s psych-garage band called the cherry slush, but that's probably not it.

lauren (laurenp), Friday, 29 October 2004 13:00 (twenty-one years ago)

cherry slush totally rule. my editor sent me one of their mp3s a few weeks ago.

doomie x, Friday, 29 October 2004 22:20 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
dunno if anyone would care, but i was just listening to the second mp3 finally and when they were talking about their "guilty pleasures" and they were talking about a James Taylor song & album "Late for the Sky" that was supposed to sound like Palace Bros. I looked it up and it's actually by Jackson Browne.

JaXoN (JasonD), Sunday, 14 November 2004 01:01 (twenty-one years ago)

weird. i was thinking about this the other day ... when i was in a charity shop and was going to get a james taylor album but wanted to double check. thanks, jaxon. i was thinking about this on wednesday infact...!
