Sort of an old dubbish sounding track in which the chorus sounds like "Ring the alarm, all the souls are dying" or maybe "not a sound is dying" or something like that.

I noticed there is a Buju Banton song called "Ring the Alarm" but not sure if this is it.

That song is tight. Is there a good Tenor Saw album to pick up or was it just a great single?

also i get the feeling you could make a comp of the times it was versioned/ sampled.

It's referenced in a Fugazi song, and judging by a google search, a bunch of others as well, including one by the all-but-forgotten Fu-Schnickens

The Tenor Saw original is called "Ring The Alarm" - the Buju Banton version is "Ring The Alarm Quick." And I think the chorus is "another sound is dying."

Tenor Saw has an album called Fever which is great (it's available on CD on Ras) BUT for reasons which make no sense both "Ring The Alarm" and "Golden Hen" (his two most famous tracks) are not on it (but 7 completely superflous dub tracks are!) The version with Buju Banton (called "Ring The Alarm Quick") is on 400% Dynamite and Winston Riley Productions: Dancehall Techniques 1986-1991 and is ridiculously good.

'Ring the Alarm Quick' is one of my favourites ever ever ever. I think there is a Tenor Saw album among the Greensleeves rereleases, and I think it's called 'Ring the Alarm'. He got shot, didn't he? I think it is discussed in the book 'Born Fi' Dead' by Laurie Someone (Gunst?). It is very sad. I think 'Ring the Alarm Quick' is Buju Banton's reaction to his death, that's why it's so good. It's so good, I was perhaps unfairly disappointed by the Winston Riley album. 'Ring the Alarm' is about a soundclash, hence 'another sound is dying', they are being trounced by Tenor Saw and his mates on a one big lawn. Two great songs.

I haven't checked my facts, so sorry if anything is wrong.

Is the 200% dynamite comp any good other than that song?

All of the Percent comps are fantastic.

I always thought 'ring the alarm, another sound is dying' an incredibly poetic-sounding lyric, even though it actually means 'I'm a better DJ than anyone else'
