i know mp3 traders that do this. you then email them and exchange FTP info when you've decided you want something from their collection.

Top Tip: You can use it to find music you might like. Go to Google, whack in all your favourite bands [or albums], and you'll get a list of people's Winamp playlists and such, whose taste mirrors yours.

I did this on a forum set up by some of my friends. We use it to know what each other has in case we want to do some trades -- or at least we did; everyone's sort of forgotten about it by now. But I still use it to update my collection, because it's a convenient format.

i use skivsamling.nu. it's a useful resource and i can update it from work. i don't need validation from any cunt.
