Hi,

I just wanted to say that at almost every show we played somebody would come up to me and tell me that they heard about us from this message board. So now that the tour is over i just wanted to tell you all to big up yoselves, and thanks to all of you who came out, we had a blast.

jeremy greenspan, Saturday, 30 October 2004 21:33 (twenty-one years ago)

You guys deserve the press for sticking to your guns and doing the record you wanted to do. Hope the tour was awesome.

Xii (Xii), Saturday, 30 October 2004 21:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Jeremy,

Thanks for the thanks. I feel that it's a great testament to your songs that I first heard you at the Detroit show, and felt like I knew most of them well when I first put on the album I bought at the show.

peepee (peepee), Saturday, 30 October 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Overall, how was it hanging out with MoM and Ratatat for a month and a half?

peepee (peepee), Saturday, 30 October 2004 21:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Jeremy!

I was the guy who came up to you last night!

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:04 (twenty-one years ago)

jeremy,

"i was the guy who came up to you last night"...wait a second, i wasn't the only one? ha - the chicago show was great, but i get real angry with the cache of people standing around, looking morose with hands in their pockets. bah, good thing there were a couple drunks getting down. i hope the tour went over well - it seemed like a pretty grueling schedule.

anyway, i'll drop you when i finish polishing up that music vid for birthday. and along those lines, i'm going to see whether i can get an interview together for stylus. should i send all this to the junior boys email off the web site?

all the new songs were great - i wish i could remember them all more clearly, but i definitely wasn't expect such a high ratio of new songs - the only one i can remember is a refracted billie jean beat. nonetheless, i was very happily surprised.

ndeyoung, Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, it was two new ones, and four recorded ones, right?

If I recall correctly, it was

1. new song
2. "Teach Me How to Fight"
3. "High Come Down"
4. new song
5. "Under the Sun"
6. "Birthday"

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:46 (twenty-one years ago)

And re: "I was the guy who came up to you last night" = Jeremy said the same thing about ILX to me last night when I said I posted here.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

jeremy if you play scotland I will come up to you and say the same.

cºzen (Cozen), Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:55 (twenty-one years ago)

hey thanks for coming to san diego

twelve, Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:57 (twenty-one years ago)

i was recently convinced to buy the album from the posts here and i absolutely love it. From the New Order sample in Three Words and the New Order homage in Birthday through all the gorgeous melodies, lyrics and perfectly understated beats and atmospherics, i've got to say thank you to Junior Boys and thank you to ILM for the push I needed to buy this album. It's been on my iPod non stop this week and for a week that i bought 10 new albums, that's saying a lot.

biznotic, Saturday, 30 October 2004 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I'd watch cozen go, up to you.

RJG (RJG), Saturday, 30 October 2004 23:03 (twenty-one years ago)

ALbum of the year for me, bring this show to the UK.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Sunday, 31 October 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

i heard about you from james m1les and then heard the hype about you on this board

astroblaster (astroblaster), Sunday, 31 October 2004 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi Jeremy, I was the guy in Milwaukee who felt bad for missing your set and bought the record for my friend out of guilt.

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 31 October 2004 21:48 (twenty-one years ago)

If Jeremy actually comes back to check on this:

If you heard someone booing in response to a comment about driving across Iowa to get to Omaha (at the Omaha performance, natch), it was all in good humor. We drove a couple hours to get to the show, with my main intention being to see your performance. We're worth stopping for on a future tour, really.

I was kind of hidden at the show, though. There was a guy dancing what I can only describe as some sort of bizarre spastic feng shui dance directly in front of me. One of many, many reasons the evening was worth the drive.

mike h. (mike h.), Monday, 1 November 2004 05:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Salut, sir! Ned from the LA environs saying hi. We all had a great time indeed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 1 November 2004 06:13 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i was the guy in mpls!! thx much, stay well.

g--ff (gcannon), Monday, 1 November 2004 06:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Hi
I was at the Chicago show but I didn't say hi. I was one of the sullen masses who you chastized for not dancing, though I did kind of bob my head and jerk my knee a little bit. I like the Junior Boys but I don't like dancing so I guess I'm not a TROO FAN.
love,
Nick

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 1 November 2004 16:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i first heard about you through Hyperdub.com. i must be weird...

martin (martin), Monday, 1 November 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

I bought the album because of ILM and the one track they played in some tiny NYC bar where Spencer hung out with us!

TOMBOT, Monday, 1 November 2004 19:23 (twenty-one years ago)

i heard about you through the power of mystic revelation

amateur!!st, Monday, 1 November 2004 19:25 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm beginning to think that N/A wasn't joking when he said to me that ILM probably accounts for 50% of the Junior Boys' album sales.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 1 November 2004 19:38 (twenty-one years ago)

My jokes are serious, and my proclamations are humorous.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 1 November 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Also I ghostwrite raps for El-P.

n/a (Nick A.), Monday, 1 November 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Does that 50% of sales by ILM include gifts to non-ILMers?

Jedmond (Jedmond), Monday, 1 November 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

yo junior boy your shit hot did you get my tape put me on the remix holla

- chris

artdamages (artdamages), Monday, 1 November 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Can we get a massage from the Junior Boys as well?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 1 November 2004 23:21 (twenty-one years ago)

To jaymc... AFAIK, one of the new songs is called "So This Is Goodbye". It starts out with a shuffle beat and a synth arpeggio that recalls Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" (to me at least.) After an ambient breakdown, the song comes back in... all repetition and shoegazing over a straight 4/4 beat and an _amazing_ sub-bass. Stunning. Thanks Jeremy!

erik pearson (statemusic), Tuesday, 2 November 2004 02:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Ha given that I first saw Ween do this live in early 1992 and they specifically asked us in the Jabberjaw audience to imagine the big balding head of Phil Collins rising behind them as they performed, appropriate.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 5 October 2022 00:18 (three years ago)

three weeks pass...

new album is fantastic, Jeremy
