I think I have only the debut album and, uh, one of the early '80s things. And this has "Billy Bad Breaks" on it.

i don't know, I have the light at the end of the tunnel and never felt like I really needed anything else.

Yeah, that's a pretty solid comp -- that was my first Damned album and it's pretty all-encompassing when it comes to most of what you need if you just want a basic collection. A touch weighted towards the MCA years, unsurprisingly, but at least it generally cherry-picks the best of that time.

I'm gonna say that all you need is "Damned, Damned, Damned."
― Steev (Steev), Tuesday, 23 November 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)
Yeah, I had that "Tunnel" comp years ago too, and only the
Damned Damned Damned tracks stood out. So I bought that.

Hell, even
Eternally Damned sums everything up. But, fuck...I love the Damned. Yeah, buy it and tell me how it is.

I haven't seen this one (and it's not official afaik) but there is an awful lot of dodgy Damned compilations out there, containing all sorts of non-essential throwaway B-sides, live tracks and other detritus - and the official releases often make matters worse by failing to include genuinely essential non-album singles and B-sides from the relevant period - so I would recommen extreme caution.
If you want a comp, The Light At The End Of The Tunnel is good but I think it's been withdrawn in favour of the more recent Smash It Up, which is actually a little better anyway imho.
I would humbly suggest 'though that Damned Damned Damned, Machine Gun Etiquette, The Black Album, Strawberies and arguably Grave Disorder are all pretty much essential. The MCA Singles is probably enough for the Sensible-less period - but this is still likely to leave you without such gems as Help, Problem Child, Don't Cry Wolf, Stretcher Case, Burglar, White Rabbit, There Ain't No Sanity Clause, Disco Man, Billy Bad Breaks, Lovely Money, I Think I'm Wonderful and Thanks For The Night!
Of course, it is probably fair to say that I do like The Damned rather a lot.

you need to get it, if only just to go to the record store and shout, "Gimme that damned box set!"
― latebloomer (latebloomer), Wednesday, 24 November 2004 11:50 (twenty-one years ago)
Surely "Gimme all of your Damned albums!" (either with or withoutthe optional extra "you bastard!") offers even greater prospects for hilarity?
